First animal I ever killed was a crow. First time I ever fired a centerfire rifle at an animal, too. I remember it clearly, and my dad made me pluck it, gut it, and eat it. What was left of it, anyways, I hit it with a .243 Win and 75gr varmint bullet. The farmer who we were visiting use it for yardwork, he wanted the bird dead and dad didn't want me to be the one to shoot it. I was the guest so did as he asked, and I was a good son (still am, goddamn!) so followed through like dad asked.
I'm sure there is a lesson in there, but the net of it is crow tastes like a gamey venison. At least the thigh/leg that was left undamaged did.
