I met one of the sons this morning and tried to convince him to call off the cops. I think I made an impression, time will tell.

Imagine having a dad that's a gunsmith and then taking that attitude about guns..... the anti gun social programming runs deep and hard in this country!

Good reminder to sort things out ahead of time if possible. What a shame.

Really. #### Trudeau but these people sound like the type that would have gotten rid of the guns regardless of the political situation. Especially given the fact that you absolutely CAN still sell them if they actually wanted to.


They could be selling the house to pay for the home he's in now though. They suck from a firearms perspective but the house sale could be necessary.
 
It sounds like the many complicated , and ever changing gun laws , that Trudeau has forced onto Canadians has scared this family into disposing of the firearms out of fear of the ramifications and repercussions created by the Trudeau government in regards to firearm ownership and possession. In just eight years , Trudeau and his Liberal bum boys has brought Canada to its knees . Fortunately , next year there will be an election , and there it absolutely nothing that Trudeau or Singh can do to stop it , and Canadians will have their say .......fingers crossed it will be BYE BYE Trudeau as Justin burns the Liberal party to the ground !!!

Not possible to coach the family to export them in States?

Very easy procedure to do for very good cash.
 
Cops have been contacted and are coming next week. His dealer's permit is expired and his family or him do not want to wait for renewal.
 
Guy at the service station near my place had his day pass away and I offered to buy the guns and he said no way I have to turn them into the police. He also votes Liberal
 
Turning your father's / grandfather's guns in to the police for destruction is a profoundly disrespectful thing to do. One wonders if these people had the guts to look him in the eye while he was this side of the sod and flat out tell him "Fvck you, old man. Your life's work counts for nothing in our world. The hours you worked to make the money to buy these things was wasted. Your effort counts for nothing. Your expertise and wisdom counts for nothing. Get in the box. No one wants you here."

One assumes not.

There is NEVER a good reason to turn guns in to the cops for destruction. Never. Other options exist. It's shameful these people are too lazy or too stupid to investigate them.
 
Something to think about when drawing up a will.
Stipulate exactly what is to be done with your firearms and maybe put in some consequences if your wishes are not followed.

I agree. It is deeply disrespectful to the dying person.


I have seen it many times, once you are dead (or almost), the vultures stump on your grave and go for the kill. I totally understand people who give 100 % of their 100 million $$ to the dog shelter.

I wonder if they can even legally do this since the person is not dead (yet).

Give it to the animal shelter. ALL of it. And keep everybody tiptoeing until then. Appoint a person you trust 100 % as your acting caretaker (with no financial interest) as long as you are alive. Not sure how that works but there must be a way.

If hes in a home and too sickly to deal with this himself there is a high chance someone else has power of attorney and thus has the ability to sell his house. I know nothing about power of attorney with regards to firearms, but if I were to guess I would say it doesn't give the same kind of powers as executor of an estate does with regards to holding onto firearms that you don't actually have a license for.


This thread is a good reminder to make sure someone knows what is to be done with your guns when its time. My wife knows who to call if I randomly bite the dust. And who to call if that guy was with me. lol

I just asked my wife who was a nurse in a care home what she thinks. Her experience is that it is always best not to trust any relatives, lol. She says "sort out your stuff before you get there", sell everything. The cost of care homes is prohibitive, so the government will make sure that they get their monies, otherwise they will just take it, if you have nothing, it is free.

I am not sure how the government may be involved in this situation, may very well be.
