Hey guys,

so ive decided im gonna be generous and give myself a .50AE Titanium Gold Desert Eagle as a gift for my graduation from RMC. Im wondering if theres anyone in canada that has these in stock, or will likely have them in stock by march or early april of 2009 (i graduate may '09). And if not, how long does Questar usually take to import? (cuz id have to arrange all that much earlier in '09 if i want it by grad) does anyone know anything?

Cheers

Unless you reload I would stay far, far away from the .50 AE. Hell, Id stay far far away from it even though I do reload ;).

"...give myself a..." How big are your hands? Desert Eagles are enormous. .50 AE ammo is horrendously expensive too. Runs $40.49US per 20, Stateside.
However, Epp's is listing a 6" Titanium Gold Desert Eagle at $2659. And a 'regular' .50AE DE at $1899. Both with one mag. Mags run $35US each, also Stateside. They're listing a used 10" chromed DE at $1999 too.

I love the titanium carbon nitride colour, a bit darker than the gold.

If you are going to shoot it lots, also get the 44Mag barrel for it.

I've done a lot of research on the DE .50AE. There are many claims that it is unreliable, inaccurate, and wears out quickly. 99.9% of these claims are because the owner doesn't hold it correctly, can't handle the recoil correctly, and doesn't clean and maintain the gun properly. There are many people that talk about how fantastically accurate they are, and as long as you don't limpwrist it, how reliable they are.

Most guys just buy the ring, Chris. ;)

I think you should leave me your ammo when you graduate. :)

haha...already bought my friend...as far as ammo goes im reloading my own stuff now (definitely not in the shacks though ) lemme kno and i can whip some up for ya if u want

and thanks for the info guys! ill call them tomorrow

Those guns are just plain fun, who cares about the rest of it. We all want one, you're accomplishing a whole lot graduating from RMC, so why shouldn't you have one. Congratulations, and you deserve it.

Desert Eagles are tons of fun. They're big, heavy, expensive, loud and proud. Brass in the face is to be expected every now and then no matter how good you hold it, it's going to happen. Clean it good and don't be shy about replacing the springs when they need it. Good choice for a grad gift to self, especially the gold. Oh yeah, if you haven't already, buy yourself a set of electric ear muffs so you can hear everyone at the range talking about how frikin loud your DE is between rounds. It's funny - you'll see.

I'll second that, also if you shoot from a concrete floored firing position you can hear the brass hit the ground - it sounds different with those 50AE ash cans, very "Hollywood sound effect" cool.

A buddy of mine has the DE .50. It's a status gun. Lots of fun and everyone wants to say they've shot one. It's a great conversation piece. If you want one go for it. I no longer bother with the "why do you need that" mentality. In reality I don't "need" any firearms other than work ones. What I want and what interests me are another thing.

By the way the recoil wasn't as bad as I expected and it was surprisingly accurate.

I like silver myself rather than gold. But that's a personal preference.
