Go for the Savage - always. Price is right and they are super accurate. Mark II FV is a great rifle with a 10-15 power scope!

Savage, meh. I had three Mark II FSS rifles last year, all garbage, none would shoot. Maybe they were ok in 2006 and previous to that, but the 2007 ones weren't worth a nickel.

I like the Savage, went down to check one out last week-end at LeBaron (mk2 FVT) and was satisfied with the finish and quality. After reading a few poor reviews here regarding the quality (ie: rusty barrel and poor crown etc), I wanted to inspect one myself. Of course, the display model may not be representative of the whole production. I haven't shot one yet though so I can't say more than that. Before I pick one up, I will take it out of the box and give it a thorough inspection at the shop. Far as I can tell, it's the only new .22 that you can get with peep sights....

Thanks! Yeah I did very well. I got it from Goble's and it was in even better shape then I thought it woud be. It even had the front sight hood and a sling!
