My dad got an old Noble 40a almost 10 years back, a cheap pump-action shotgun that makes the Norinco made ones look high quality in comparison. My brother has been working on refinishing it, and we would like to know if it is possible to determine if it can safely fired once its put back together again. Its so old that we don't completely trust it to fire without blowing up.

I would like to know what kind of tolerances are acceptable for a 12 gauge, 2 3/4 inch chamber, and signs of trouble to look for on both the barrel and receiver.
