3.5in Chambering?

Haha. Thats funny.

I’m not a shell brand snob. I’ll shoot any brand as long as its the cheapest box on the shelf and it cycles through my guns. Ducks and geese are dead inside decoying range regardless of the brand of shell. And if they are outside of decoying range and I happen to miss, I’d rather miss with a cheap shell LOL. Truth be told, I have an affinity to Winchester Xpert because they are usually the cheapest and I like the bright red shells. Makes them easy to spot when picking up empties.

I can't get challenger steel shells to pattern well in any gun. I've tried about about 12 different guns and various chokes. Challenger BBB is by far the worst

You do bring up a great point about patterns. I’ve found that the Blackcloud with the flight control wads pattern best out of my Mossberg by far. The Challengers didn’t pattern as well as the Winchester’s past 20 yards but the difference was negligible inside 15 yards which is where most of my shooting takes place when hunting over decoys.

Patterns with Federal, Remington, Winchester, Challenger and Kent were all similar inside decoying range. To me the differences were nothing to be concerned about but maybe it would be at 25-30 yards.

In my Browning and Winchester shotguns, I find that the 3" Kent Fasteel 1560fps loads patterned very well at longer distances with the Pattern master Code Black Goose. The Briley extended LM are better for closer ranges.
I tried Score, Winchester, and Browning in 3", as well, and Kent in 3-1/2". The Winchester Experts were the worst in 3", and the 3-1/2" were not as uniform as any of the 3".

This is an interesting topic, most reports from people with extensive experience and knowledge on here all say 3.5 inch loads don't give any advantage when compared to 3 inch loads for waterfowl hunting.

Experience is a good teacher, there must be some truth to their reasoning. :)
