Summer Brutality 2024 is a Brutality Shooting Competition like no other. Not only will you compete against all other attendees as an individual but also working together as a squad on some occasions in unscored activities. These activities will include education lessons on both fun and practical topics.

The event will be conducted on July 20th and July 21st , with the same stages being run each day, competitors only need attend on one day.

A large camping area is present, the range is only a 30min drive from Kelowna and water is present (Boil it)

A Glock 17 and 48 9x19 pistol will be available for competitors to rent during the event at $50 per firearm per day and includes a holster & magazine pouches that can be fitted to any regular trouser belt. Those renting a firearm will be placed in specific squads. The shooter must on registering provide proof of having attended and passed a dynamic handgun shooting course in the last 3 years.

This shoot will involve challenging physical activity in uncertain weather conditions (It may be hot, raining, cold or all 3). This will include high intensity exercise, moving heavy objects, moving through undulating terrain at speed and more. You MUST bring sufficient food and water to last a day or more. A spare set of clothing that you can compete in. You may get wet!

Who is this event for?

You don’t need to be an high speed super shooter to come to this event, you do need to be well versed in handing your firearm safely and have your equipment set up for use with summer clothing in advance. If you’re confident you can act safely, have zeroed your firearms and have practised dynamic movement & exercise then this is for you.

Targets will range from 5 to 300m for rifles and PCCs and a maximum of 50m for pistols

The event will be made of 6 to 7x shooting stages and 2 to 4 non shooting stages (non-shooting stages will not be scored) except for Light Infantry Division participants who will have additional activities to take part in.

Light Infantry Division participants will be required to camp out overnight and conduct arduous tasks. Night vision is not required but may help. The light infantry will also conduct additional physical activities outside of the stages during the event. The Light infantry division is only open to those shooting on Saturday 20th.

Round count (Suggested quantity to bring to the match, not a minimum round count)

Rifle 325
Pistol 250

Note: Those conducting the event in a division not requiring a pistol will require twice as much rifle ammunition and may not be able to conduct every aspect of all the stages (where possible rifle only shooters will shoot the same stage in a different way)

A minimum magazine/stripper clip capacity of 50 rounds for both rifle and pistol is required

Event schedule

Friday July 19th Saturday shooters arrive at the range 1800 - 1900 for registration & equipment check. Light Infantry Division Shooters will start the event immediately after registration. Light infantry participants will all be placed in Alpha squad, then subsequent squads to keep them all together.

Saturday July 20th Saturday shooters arrive at the range 0600, safety brief 0700, event starts 0730. Sunday shooters arrive 1800 to 1900 for registrations & equipment check

Sunday July 21st Sunday shooters arrive at the range 0600, safety brief 0700, event starts 0730

NB: If you will struggle to make registration & gear check times just email us and we'll work something out

A post event social will take place at a to be confirmed pub on the Saturday and Sunday

Fees
- $250 per day (Shooters may attend the event twice but only their first score will count)
- Firearm rental $50 per day

Note: A gear inspection will take place prior to any shooting to ensure that all those who attend have the appropriate PPE and equipment appropriate to the competition (to avoid any “fumbles”)

SWAG: A Canadian Multigun & Summer Brutality patch are included in the ticket price and there will likely be fantastic entry prizes

DISCOUNTS: A hotel discount is being pursued, as we get more discounts we will update the discounts document with them

Refund Policy

No refunds, cancellations and no shows are very hard for us to recover from. We have to procure equipment & consumables well in advance and finding replacements at the last minute is effectively impossible. We don’t like doing this but we do have to

This looks like it will be awesome. And now this event is only 8 hours drive away instead of 12 hours like the previous Brutality Events

What division do you think you´d go in? Have you been to previous events?

I haven't been to previous events. I don't know if I'd go in so I could have the best chance of finishing by using modern gear (RDB and a Glock 19x) or do I go in it just for pure fun and go Medium difficulty (SKS and a 1911) or hard mode (SMLE and a revolver)

A quick reading of the rules may exclude my pistol usage though as I don't qualify based on this:
"The shooter must on registering provide proof of having attended and passed a dynamic handgun shooting course in the last 3 years."

I'm waiting to see what it happening with my shift at work as I've been told it MAY be changing. Hard to book holidays when I don't know what rotation I'll be on....

That rule is for renting a pistol from them not for if you're bringing your own one

This looks great. Working on a scheme to have a business trip to Kelowna that coincides with those dates. Will be entering in Semi unlimited and armoured divisions if I do.

From what I've started to see posted on FB, it looks like this event was a great success. I was happily surprised to read that no competitors got heat stroke while competing in the hot Okanagan sun

The event had 2 water fountains where competitors were strongly encouraged or even told to get soaked under between stages.

There was extra shade built at all stages.

Every competitor was given a bottle of gatorade and a sachet of electrolytes

Every single stage briefing started with a heat exhaustion and stroke brief so on no less than 11 occasions through the day everyone had the chance to raise their hand or be reminded. As part of the brief competitors were requested to drink 500ml of water during the stage brief

A buddy buddy system was encouraged to get people to take care of one another

The staff frequently checked that all participants were consuming water and food

Factor 60 suncream was available for all to use

3x medical staff were present and consistently checking in on competitors and staff

A final bonus stage "the log race" didn´t happen as the staff decided that 10 stages was enough for one day lol

It was an really fun event
