Puma Carbine

I've found that the 92 based design was always smoother than the 94. And the Puma's are such a sweet balancing little beast as well. Have had a 454 16" stainless, a 44 20" blued and now a 357 20" stainless. All had smooth actions, good to great triggers. Never should have sold the 454 though...:(

The trigger on my M92 is very good no creap and a positive let off.

I just finished these tonight and installed them onto my Puma M92 20" barreled 454 Casull I still need to glass bed them but that will happen on another day.

I bought the stocks from GunStocks.Inc in the States I first removed and shipped my factory stocks to them so they could do a semi custom fit especially the mag tube hole in the fore end needed to be larger.

They normally sell a stock set of stocks for $80.00 but to get the larger hole put in he charged me another $100.00 to do a set of semi custom stocks for me.

To say I was disappointed in the product that was supplied to me is an understatement.

I still had to machine/sand out the mag tube hole due to the rough under sized hole that I recieved.

I don't have much in the way of wood working tools so this took what seemed like forever to get them fitted to the gun.

I also installed a Kick-Eez magnum recoil pad which is my favorite, they are the best recoil absorbing pad on the market.

Anyway here is a couple of pictures... :D

That's beautiful Camp Cook.

Unfortunately they are only from a distance... :(

The stocks I recieved where not what I thought I was getting and the resulting fit and finish is terrible took all of my limited wood working skills to get them to fit even close.

I was completely frustrated while I sanded the stocks and had to walk away from the job to cool off repeatedly.

I would like to give praise to the company that I bought these from but can't, now if anyone were to deal with them I recommend only buying the standard stocks and do not get them to do anything else to them that way when you are getting frustrated with the product you aren't also feeling that you were ripped off at the same time.

edit to add;

For those of you using 45 Colts in the 454 Casull rifles remember to clean out the chamber before switching over to 454's and if you reload load you 45 Colts long.

I'm in South East BC right now and have my Puma 454 with me along with my 4.25" SRH that is also chambered in 454 Casull.

Spotted a couple of Columbia Ground squirrils today the first 300gr XTP-Mag cut it's head off with a free handed shot @ 65 yards and the second had a hole punched thru it's chest @ about 45 yards.

To say that I am happy with the accuracy/handling is an understatement.

I also spotted a turkey @ about 50 yards this afternoon but unfortunately didn't get a chance to get a shot off...

Yes they are open for hunting right now. :D

edit to add; I used the rifle not the handgun...

Have nothing but good things to say about the puma, bought myself a 44 mag 20" stainless 2 weeks ago. With only one range session in I have to say it was a good purchase, the balance is prefect and action smooth. My only compliant is that the recoil from the 44mag with a steel crescent buttplate is a bit more than I expected. (I'm a bit of a wuss maybe :D)

+1 for me! I also have the 44mag stainless and my trigger is awesome actually comparable to a decent M700 trigger. The recoil however feels much much worse than a marlin 44mag. that damn crescent steel.

I think the issue is that the shorter 45 Colt rounds don't feed perfectly sometimes.

I have fired hundreds of 45 Colt thru my 454 Casull and haven't had any kind of a problem though.
