Hi All, apologies if this has been covered already. I went through the FAQ and 8 pages of 'CZ858' searches, and still wasn't able to puzzle this out.

I have a set of black synthetic furniture from Wolverine (Awesome to deal with) and am having some trouble installing the top hand guard furniture. The instructions seem to indicate that the furniture can be 'rolled' around the guard, but as it is in Czech (I presume) I can't say for sure. The diagram shows the guard without the horizontal metal tabs mid length along the guard.

The lower guard furniture and skeletonized stock went on without a hitch.

Does anyone have any experience installing these, and if so, any advice you are willing to lend?

With thanks.

You need to lightly bend the tabs (shown in pic) then the hand guard "rolls" out of the housing.

Thanks Norseman! I was just in the gun room looking at this thing in the vice and was thinking about doing some tin-bashing, but aside from being a newb, I'm also kind of a chicken %^&$ when it comes to it ;)

Once I have the new one rolled in, I was going to mark the metal guard itself and then remove the furniture again so I can drill out the guard for the mine screws that came with. I'll try to post a pic afterwards, success or failure.

Thanks again!

Apparently there are 2 variations from what Ive heard, I haven't seen the one you speak of yet though.

i had both variants , the 2 tabs type and the "C" sping type, "C" spring sits below the wood , held in position by a indent , all you have to do is rotate, unfortunately after several removal it becomes too loose and rotate too easily .... problem with 2 tabs is you can only do a few time before the tabs falls off.

Too bad someone couldn't post pics of them to add to the FAQs

This is the inside of my wooden upper handguard.

I'm thinking it might have had the C-spring but when I was looking for info i was told to bend the tabs (didnt even think it was a spring.

So thats what I did

Anyone know what color these rifles are? I want to get some rustoleum or something to touch up the tabs where the paint flaked off, as well as i found a small spot on the receiver under the lower hand guard where the paint chipped at some point in its life.
