Mossberg Model 88

Yea, I'm stuck between the cheaper 88 security, and the ever-so-slightly more expensive grizzly 870 clone. So I'd like to hear some input too.

I had an 88 security, didn't like it. That's not to disparage what it is, but it's an aluminium receiver, fixed mag capacity (IE, no extensions), and just overall feels cheap. I got rid of it in a month (and up-graded to a Benelli Super Nova... but that's a story for another day). I had no performance issues, in the 150-200 rds I put thru it, mind.

Just got the Grizz last week, and in my opinion, is far superior. All steel, and feels beefy. Both the Mav and the Grizz fill the same backpack niche for me, but I have far more confidence in the Grizz.

My $0.02.

I have 2 Maverick 88's (Mossberg). One is a single and the other has double action arms. They are both reliable, dependable shotties. Plenty of upgrades and after-market parts (at reasonable prices) to dress them up. I have put them both through hell and they have never let me down. Definitely a good buy. You won't be dissapointed.

From a Chevy truck to a Ferrari...That's one hell of an upgrade. :D

Yeah, and wow, what a difference.

At the end of the day, though, I still needed something short, cheap and handy to throw around and stuff into tight spaces. The Grizz is great for that.

And the difference in Muzzle flash and blast from an 18" to a 12" is worth the extra $50. I'm easily amused by bright lights and sounds.

I bought the combo package with the security barrel and the longer barrel for clays/fowl. Definitly worth the money, defintly an economy package which is exactly what I was looking for.
