Red dot on hunting rifle lovers?

Bushnell TRS 25 3 moa on two levers: 358Win BLR + 44RM Marlin, 0 @100 for both, over 20 yrs, they work, they last and take abuse ... great dusk + dawn
I had a Walther branded red dot on a carbine and it worked great for wolf hunting. Called in the action was quick and close it worked great. Wasn't the greatest for trying to shoot the head off a grouse passed 30 yards. The dot was just to big. Think it was a 4moa dot. I have it on a 410 turkey gun now
My go to for a reasonably priced red dot these days is the Vortex AR. I like the Holosun Reflex sights better but they are more $$
I would never choose a TRS 25 on any rifle that would be used extensively or be put to rough use. Poor battery life and don't hold zero very well when they get bashed around. However my example is only of 1. After 500 rounds it wasn't holding zero well, the battery would die often and I don't even think it made it much over 2000 rounds befroe I gave up on it. It still turns on though.

I need to put a red dot of some flavor on my Henry 44 mag so this thread is of interest to me. It'll likely be a holosun or Trijicon rmr. Depends on the cash available and the deal I can find.
I run Sig Romeo 5's on both my type 81's. One is on a Sigmaco forend top rail and holds zero just fine. The other is on a xfiretactical mount that I put on the other day and haven't tested it yet. The one on the Sigmaco equipped rifle holds zero just fine and I've used it (though not killed anything with it) for bear hunting.

I really like the minox rv1. It has held up to strong recoil. 10yr warranty. 2 moa (iirc) dot. Comparable to the aimpoint IMO but much cheaper.

Trs25 on a couple different 12g over the years, works great holds up to 12g recoil. Battery life was great but I make sure not to leave it on when I’m done with it.

ACSS reticle has somewhat useful ranging capabilities. It was a bit expensive and hard on the shoulder figuring out mine. .454 from such a light rifle, off the bench, gets to be a bit much... I had an ACRO P2 on before that I placed on a shotgun mostly due to preference based on mounting location.

best I've looked through so far is the holosun eps green mrs, I just put it on a shotgun really close to back of receiver and it's wonderful...has all the features, good window size for wide fov mounted closer to face like that, enclosed emitter, solar w/battery back up, 3 reticle choices, super low deck height, easy to find dot/keep dot, feathery lightweight...like 1 oz, most minimal astigmatisms of any so far I've looked through, it's almost like my eyes have no issues lol....
problem will likely be how to find the right base and mount to get it on a rifle, it's a direct slap into the cut out on the new mossberg 940 shotguns though
to me would be worth knowing a machinist like Henry Rempel to take it and any project rifle to..to figure out best way to mount it, whether he has to create a base that meets rifle on bottom side and dot sight on top side or whatever....or make the rifle itself directly take it....incredible little sight imo

There are some purpose built mounts for stuff like that being made for the Ruger Americans now as well. Thinking a red dot of some kind would be just the thing for a Gen II 7.62x39

I've always wanted a nice Aimpoint or something similar on a deer rifle for close fast shots. Havnt bought one because I don't know anyone with one to try out.
