Alberta Hunting Draws

checked myself the other week thought they must be open already but no not yet

I'll be doing another year of priority only draws as it appears that my hunting season is going to be very short this year

bummer after having a broken arm last year
 
My plans also changed this year. Was really hoping for an archery antelope, but a shift of work priorities this fall throws a wrench in that plan.

Will be hoping for some luck on the elk this year.
 
I hunt two zones, my moose priority is more than high enough for each zone, my cow elk would be good in one, which I likely won’t get to this year, but not high enough for the other, but I can bow hunt cows with the OTC tag. My home zone gives me three OTC whitetail tags and I will go priority only for everything else.

I put in all my draws again this year for priority only

I'll just hunt general and supplemental whitetail... and the deer in the back yard

I'm going to be out of country for most of hunting season anyways
 
well I will be pri 6 antlered moose next year

looking at the draw results that is pretty much a guaranteed draw

I also looked at my elk at pri 15, there is someone out there with a pri 25 for elk

I suspect that goat, sheep and trophy antelope also have some high pri for the draws
 
I'll only be building-up my priority this year. I will purchase a few Ministers tickets for antalope..........they taste so good and fun to hunt!

Goat is a once in a lifetime draw, no points

I purchased 5 minister tickets for sheep
 
Waiting on the wife to decide if she wants to hunt this year. She has enough priority to pull her bull moose, mule buck and mule doe tags in pretty much any zone. She’s not a keen hunter and only does it if I push her so we will see.

I put in priority only for everything except goat and sheep. My plan is to hunt general elk up around GP and then go to my “grocery store” for a WT buck. We have killed deer every year here, and it only takes one trip. Nothing big in the area so it’s purely a meat hunt. Anything 4x4 or better.
 
As a first time hunter this year, I put all my draws in for priority only, with the exception of the Goat draw. The way it was explained to me is that it is a once in a lifetime draw. If you get it, you can never apply for it again? Either way, that's the only thing I have the chance to get drawn for.

I plan to just buy a general tag and see how I do.

Basically. Like the Bison draw last year I expect some of the "influencers" to get a Goat tag like they did the Bison draw.
