Brown bears...what rifle?

You're going hunting in Alaska for a trophy Brown Bear.:dancingbanana: The rifles you have to choose from are:

Remington 700 blued/walnut 8mm mag
Remington 700 blued/walnut 350 Mashburn Super mag (same as a 358 STA);)
Winchester 70 CRF stainless/synthetic 338 Win mag, or .375 H&H (switch barrel rifle)
Winchester 70 CRF stainless/synthetic 300 WSM
Remington 700 stainless/laminate 300 Ultra mag

All are topped with quality optics, and you can shoot each equally well.

What rifle do you choose and why?
 
Personally id take the 375H&H just becasue it might come in handy in a tight situation. The 350 would work too. I guess it depedns on the where you are hunting and how far away the shots are going to be. I like to have too much gun instead of too little.
 
I'm thinking a heavy 220 partion or 200 TSX or AccuBond in the 300 RUM would put one down quick and offer some serious range capabilities...BUT the 375 H&H benefits from a larger bullet when range is expected inside 200 yards and has a greater offering of Heavy, Dangerous Game bullet designs. The benefit of CRF is written about often but real world application over a rebated rim RUM case in the M700 ...well..thats up in the air. Mag capacity of the RUM is three in the well, one on the launch ramp....whats the M70's with 375 H&H's? None the less I would certainly prefer to go stainless over blued on a trip like that.
 
Personally I would got with the 300 RUM because thats what I have in my safe. I choice it because of the long range capabilities. I personal don't like Remington M700's I have mine in a Browning Abolt but thats just IHO. Good luck let use know what you choose.
 
Give me that Mashburn Super Magnum. Of coarse i am a mashburn fan and own several, never shot a brown bear either so what the hell do i know?

Energy wise and ballistics cant be argued it would be the 375 H&H or the 350 super mag for sure.
Thatt super mag can deliver a pile of energy and with a fast barrel some pretty high velocities!

And to be 100% honest knowing the accuracy and the bullet construction i really would not be affraid of using any of the cartridges you mentioned, they are all in the heavy chevy range.

You forgot the 30-378 and he 338-378 wbys lol!
 
what gun to use

first thing l would do is throw the top quality optics off my rifle if your eyes are good enough to use sights ,as l would never let anyone shoot a brown bear at 200 yards when l was guiding,and never use anything less then that 350 mashburn or 375 hh,lm not saying you cant kill em with something smaller,as lots have been but ,why push it?
 
CRF .375 H&H with iron sights and a Leupold VXIII 1.5x5x20 in reliable QD rings.

Here's mine.

I need to replace the rings with medium height Warne's.

The CRF winchester in 375.

I love 35s but the one you mention is in walnut/blue so it loses points. In Alaska for trophy browns "weather beaters" are better I believe as is bone crunching stopping capabilities which the 375 has. The 375 has the largest bore, feeds well in most rifles, and for the purpose you mention it gets my vote.
