one of the rimfire actions I have yet to own is a 2500X

looking at two in the USA, 1 listed for sale and 1 who I know the owner but he will not remember me from a 1000 yard shoot I attended a few years ago

how do you like them

what stock is on it

anything else outside of the normal ammo search and rimfire whining that you could help me with or add to this discussion

pictures always welcome

I wish it were otherwise, but it's doubtful there are many, if any, 2500X owners/shooters in Canada. Perhaps some shooters with this model from south of the border will respond.

By most accounts, the 2500X Holeshot action is very well regarded, with little need for reworking when the smith who puts it together with a well chosen barrel.

I'd buy one if it had fewer challenges to get into my hands.

I know of 4 in my area. They do exist in Canada.

Well earned reputation, if you follow the ARA results you can see they compete at the highest levels. I love mine.

I briefly owned a 2500XR. It had issues feeding and extracting so it was returned. The single shot of course will be a different animal. It was very smooth and well machined and finished.

Iirc, Gary at bighorn brought in the action for me. This would have been in 2019 or so.

Thanks. I'll have to look into what's involved with importing a rifle from the US. It remains unfortunate that we don't have a lot of rimfire specializing smiths experienced with this action to put everything together.

prophet river firearms will be importing mine
it is a sponsor here and the info is on the website

I made arrangements this am with a guy in the us of a to do this very thing

he was ok with the extra time to get paid by prophet river through the USA exporter as the BATF rules now imply, odd but it is how it is now done

a little slow but it will work and be an extra 600 bucks or so

for Rotex stocks as an example Mr owners has his own exporter who charges 75 usa bucks plus, shipping fees to export out of the USA and no need to get a Canadian importer as I am going thorough the process as I post

the 2500x with a Rotex or straightline Macmillan bedded by somebody DECENT is popular choice now

woild have rather got a wood stock BUT the guy who smithed the rifle and bedded the stock are among the best for rimfire

and yes it is all about the barrel and the ammo but good components will get you 80 % there as speedy says

Importing is a pain but the 2500x COMPLETE BUILDS are not stocked by,anyone up here

you are part of the gunsmith who used to shoot centerfire who got them done in a stockmaker who has passed away, will try to think of his name
I have a one piece rest he is looking at as I want one of the new PQP rests

my journey never ends

Good information on Prophet River for importing.

It appears that complete builds are not usually stocked by anyone in the USA, either. The Holeshot 2500X action is available from a few places such as Precision Quest and Killoughs.

For the general reader, the action alone is $1450 USD. The choice of barrel is up to the builder/shooter. Equipment lists are usually available to show which makes of barrel are winning, but they seem unavailable at this particular time. Barrels from Benchmark, Muller, and Shilen are often used by the top scoring shooters.

My stock was made by Don Stith. Has passed a year or two ago now. I’m very happy to have a stock he made.

I expect you'll get busy when your rifle arrives but I hope you'll find time to post pictures and a summary of the process. I'm weighing the options of another rifle myself and could find myself doing what you have. Would really appreciate the benefit of your experience. Thanks.

Grant and I are neighbours, and yes he does have a 2500x. Like I said earlier there are at least 4 of them in the area and I know them all. Every one of them shoot very well.
