Quick question - French 1873 Service Revolver

My memory sucks but i dont think so thats the 1892s that have a Letter but its in front of the Ser #
the 1873s have 1873 on the barrel top and on the right hand side of the barrel the date like 1877
If its a Comercial copy of a 1873 it wont have that tho.
EDIT** i just looked at one it has and S 1877 so i think they all have and S infront of the date.

I found a gunsmith in france that has a fair amount of NOS parts. Plan to pay lots of money for them though, not cheap. These guns are worth working on and worth the effort to get shooting.
P.S anyone that does'nt see the benfit of putting thier kid's in french immersion has never tried to find a revolver part in France.

So unless I have to ask where the bathroom or library is, I'm SOL.
I asked the seller to get me a pic with the "guts" splayed open to see if there's anything obvious. He think's it's a trigger or sear problem. Same guy has a nice 1892 but it's a couple year too young.
They have one weakness there trigger return springs!
Good thing is its easy to adapt a V spring into a trigger return spring.
I been lucky and all the ones i bought had good trigger return springs.

Although it's not a bad trigger spring, it's missing. Along with a small nub on the hammer that appears to engage the hand. I'll post pics the seller sent when I get home.
And there's no year or maker's mark on it - makes me wonder if it was buffed down in the past.

Well i dont know if i would buy it if you dont have the orignal trigger return spring (broken one to Copy) and i cant see what else is broken that your talking about?
But that second part thats broken sounds like a nightmare just waiting for you.

I noticed the missing hand this evening when looking at other pictures of 1873 "guts".
You're right - I think this is just frustration looking for a home.

Would anyone know if the parts from a FRENCH ‘MODEL 1874 COMMERCIAL REVOLVER’ would fit on it ? I know where there is one ( missing the extractort rod unit, loading gate and lanyard ring ) for sale for $450 beside the missing parts it seems in descent condition as you can see on the picture;
I guess for the price, it would make a good project, or parts gun.

The Comercial models parts wont fit into the Military Models.
Save a couple hundred more dollars!
and buy a whole gun is my best advise
