PAL Wait Time

As my RPAL expiry approached I was getting concerned so called thru to the BC CFO and explained that I need it to continue serving as a Range Officer for rimfire at our local gun club, overseeing and coaching new rifle shooters and some aspiring ISSF pistol competitors. A very pleasant lady fixed me up right away.

My RPAL renewal in Ontario took two days less than a month. I submitted it on April 29, and it arrived yesterday. The photo was from my phone, and I was impressed that it matched the file spcifications right off the bat. I remember having to crop and reduce the resolution i the past.

Interestingly the online portal still showing “application successfully submitted” and they didn’t contact any of my references.

Mar. 25 - CFSC result arrived by mail (38 days)
Mar. 26 - PAL application submitted
Mar. 28 - All references signed, email received confirming application submitted for processing
May 22 - PAL application approved (57 days) - with a call from the CFO to clarify something
May 30 - PAL received in mail (8 days)
--------
TOTAL = 103 days from CFSC completion to receipt of PAL (Ontario)

Best of luck to everyone waiting.

Hi there, I thought I'll give you an update of my Pal approval:

07/12/23 pal safety courses received
07/14/23 mailed PAL application
07/17/23 Application received and Cc charged. Checked online status, “application received… come back at a later date.”
10/24/23 called RCMP to ask if I can provide help/ informations. They just replied everything is fine, just wait.
11/09/23 called RCMP to update an information about one of my references. I’ve been told it’s now in final review.
01/15/24 still nothing, finally called BC CFO and got approved over the phone.
Arrived two weeks later in the mail.
So it took around 7 months, and calling the CFO definitely helped me to get it done.

Best of luck to all of you!

How did you get the extension number for BC cfo? I tried to call and ask the RCMP but they said they don't do that.

I did not ask actually, information agent told me that I can call them with 9530 extension from the same call center number by following extension path. He just told me that I have to call between 8.30am-2pm PST.

ps. I tried to call them before with same extension number (I found it from here) but couldn't reach them. And thought that the extension is wrong or old. But then I got surprised when I was said the same extension and had no hope but could reach them.

Hope you can reach them too soon and get your PAL.

Oh I that's nice. I think it really depends on who you get from RCMP call. We BC CFO people helpful on the call? Thank you sir!

i did the pal course on december 9 2023, sent paperworks on the 27 by snail mail, got receive at miramichi on jan 22 2024 pass the initial review, card charged 27, call many times, stuck in the Quebec CFO since, even the rcmp not updating stat. It must be a Quebec thing
