The double stack 10 round mag is what I refer to of course. Does anyone know of a source for these or is the legend that they can't be obtained true? Heck, I'll settle for a 5 round if there is such an animal, the important thing is to have a spare.

That looks like the same metal mag they use for the UPR and TAC A1 models, and I have seen them around. Other models use a different plastic magazine.

Nobody needs a 10rd mag, to dangerous to be in civilian hands. Laugh2

They must be, because it turns out that you need to produce your PAL to buy a spare magazine for a firearm now. I'm told this started in March.

EDIT: Seriously, let's not forget that the Liberals actually tried to pull off prohibiting bolt action rifles with 10 rd magazines just a few months ago, they only withdrew because of the outrage amongst the fudds and NDP supporters in the north. But as long as they can return to power, ever, they will try again. And again, etc etc.

This magazine registration is necessary because they are but a part of the scary firearms scene and good Liberals must remember even if the rifles are picked up, the mags can be filled with cement and turned into deadly thrown objects. :)

^ If you’re patient they periodically come up at used prices (but in new condition) by guys who opt for an aftermarket chassis and switch from CTR mags to AICS.

This. Can sometimes pick up a mag and a CTR stock on the EE for less than a new magazine. They are incredibly expensive new, but are of exceptional quality.

You didn't look very hard. They're just CTR magazines. A complete ripoff price, but not hard to find.

The price for that mag is brutal.

Has anyone tried Mambamags Tikka 3 10 shot mag? It's only $59.

Those won't fit a CTR.

Went into effect when C21 passed, Dec. 15 2023. RCMP didn't tell anyone they had to be checking licenses for mags for a few months though.

As for registration, there is no paper trail on magazines. Has license? Yes? Done. No reference number, no purchase details, nothing like that needs to be recorded. It is basically the same level of scrutiny required for NR guns 5 years ago before the NR transfer/reference number stuff.

Authorization to transfer cartridge magazine to individuals
(2) A person may transfer a cartridge magazine that is not prescribed to be a prohibited device only if the individual holds a licence authorizing him or her to possess firearms.

I just recently sold my factory CTR stock/bottom metal/mag to a buddy when I bought an MDT chassis and AICS mags. He has the Arctic and the CTR mag fits perfectly.

Yes they are in fact advertised to fit several rifles, including the CTR and the Tac 1, that in fact at first made me a bit unsure I was going to get the real thing. Anyway, there was no avoiding it, the mag did turn out to be very expensive but I did manage to get a small discount to ease the pain. I don't suppose anyone is selling a spare parts kit for the rifle but that's another question.

This is one reason I haven’t bought a CTR, I’m looking for a LH .223 bolt gun but I want multiple mags and the price of CTR mags is just stupid. I don’t want a chassis either in order to use Aics mags.

I have 3 10 round .223 CTR mags and only one is actually reliable in that it will feed all 10 rounds. The other 2 feed 8 rounds just fine but then the last 2 are inconsistent.
