Hello

Do anyone know of a rifle with wood stock, open sights and sporter barrel , chambered in 6.5 PRC ?

I’ve searched it no luck.

Thanks

Not likely to find one with open sights however a nice Boyds laminate stock would be an easy after market upgrade to any factory 6.5 PRC

If I had to give up one of three options I guess it would be the open sights.
I seen a win model 70 but it had a light profile barrel.
I really want the wood stock too

Are you leaning toward factory? Or thinking custom?

Factory, don’t have to be overly pricey, as long as it shoots good.
Something similar to rem BDL,Winchester,etc.

I have an xbolt ss stalker in 7 RM but thinking I might sell that to finance a 6.5 PRC.
Also I have a tikka 6.5 prc with a proof barrel for target shooting and wanted to keep my hunting rifle in the same caliber, easier on the reloading as well

Ahh oki, sorry I’m of no help with factory. Full custom, I may be able to help, but the rifle is a long ways from factory.

A great caliber, good luck on your search!!

Your current rifle is a better option already. 6.5 PRC can’t match it at any sane hunting distance with the same bullet weights. My opinion anyway. You actually might be able to find a near new used wood/blued 7mm RM with open sights.

Yes,that’s true but I just want to cut back on the reloading,so having both rifles in the same caliber makes more sense for me.

I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to the Howa 1500 or Winchester XPR.

Just have to find out the specs on the barrel contour.

Would it be a difficult job to have open sights installed afterwards?

Installing sights on the barrel is a pretty easy job for a gunsmith, and I do my own easily enough with a mill now, but a drill press for years before. As a diy thing if a feller's not up to it, then could definitely screw it up, but a Smith would have no prob with that.
