Type 81 mlok hand guard

Misleading conclusions on the “not holding zero”.

Sounds like it holds zero but after removal needs rezeroing. That’s a huge difference from it being wobbly and unstable during shooting and groups opening up!

I love my T81M and think I’ll grab a set so I can throw on some optics and fold the stock! TI has these awesomely priced.

Not that misleading as people are specifically asking if it holds zero after removal for cleaning

If the Mean Point of Impact (MPI) shifts after you remove the top guard and re-install it, or if it shifts during shooting - the dreaded 'wandering zero' - those conditions are by their nature "not holding zero".

My test was an initial sampling of one, so its worth taking with a grain of salt.

However, the M4 machine screws that mount the top rail to the lower in my opinion are too small and not robust enough for repeated mounting and unmounting, never mind holding up and keeping the rail moving around during firing.

I modified mine to use M6 screws, so I'm hopeful that helps.

If you want it to return closer to the same spot everytime.... the holes should be countersunk combined with the use of flat head bolts. Did the same for the Magwedge rail system on my SKS waaaay back when. A bolt in a simple hole will never be repeatable, there needs to be some geometry somewhere that centers things.

Agreed, it sounds like it held zero while shooting which is most important. I don't mind so much if taking it off needs a bit of rezeroing as it'd be impossible to get it mounted exactly the same way each time with all the variables present on this rail system. It was the same with the VZ58 cover rail systems I had in the golden days (lol). But if I can get a solid T81M mounting system and I can still fold it I am super pleased. I'm really happy with how the T81M shoots and mounting a red dot or scout scope is gonna be wicked. Just bought one @ $250 all in which is great to be honest based on the quality people speak of and most importantly, holding zero!

Have you taken it out to the range and shot it anymore, how was it shooting? How tough was it to change up the screws??
