Hi I have a 590A1 with silver coating and it is very fussy about ammo. It is stiff extracting with all ammo but worse with some and yes it is lubed properly. I got it for going in the bush for bear defense but i think i would like to trade it for another 870.does anyone else have this problem ? some ammo i have to ram it to get it open. Thanks

+2 on the non polished chamber

One of the more common problems with pump shotguns nowadays.

Can you describe a bit more what the issue is?

Does the " stiff ejecting" also happen with non fired ammo? Or only with fired ammo?

Does this " stiff ejecting" happen with snap caps?

If it happens only with fired ammo .... then very likely it is a rough chamber that needs polishing .... And that is an easy fix .... and that I had to do on a couple of my 870s ..... They are all working flawlessly now ....

i will get back to you after i go back to the range. Thanks

Rough chambers are not uncommon. Typical fix is to polish it.
Probably 99% of the time, this is the issue and the solution right here.

It's made worse with cheap ammunition, you'll often find that quality shells are less of a problem (or no problem at all). Regardless, polishing the chamber is pretty simple, but you can overdo it.

Rough chamber walls and some makes of ammo are the cause of hard extraction. (Extraction occurs as the fired shell is first withdrawn from the chamber) Ejection occurs after that as the action is opened farther.

Thank You Guntech for correcting me .It does eject just fine but stiff extracting. Sometimes i embarrass myself LOL. Dan
