Small steps. Finally got my T7. Wasn’t expecting it to be so heavy but it’s solid and well built! I have a red dot for now, but I might pick up a Riton scope to pair, can’t afford the nightforce after buying this sucker lol.
Everyone loves to point out the MOA on th T7 which I find hilarious. Buddy, it's a battle rifle not a precision rifle. It can kill just as good as anything else. Right now Canada and the world is on the brink of war. This is the only affordable semi 308 gun we have in Canada. MOA means nothing here smhT7 is a 3ish MOA gun. Not sure why you'd need a bipod, especially a wobbly mid mounted one. They're heavy and you're not in shape (if you say you are, you can and should do more) so keep that sucker light. As far as top rail and long forend options go, look at manticore arms. There are sponsors here who bring them in. I wanted the long forend until I shot it and calculated the weight penalty. I bought a magpul vert grip instead.
I'm convinced this is a 1.5-2 MOA gun. Any limitations really being the cartridge rather than the rifle. I'll have more time on hand in a few weeks (I hope) and plan to get back behind the T7. A better sear pack giving an AR15 type trigger feel and break would most certainly help to getting to what the rifle can do. 3.5-4# break would be wonderful.Everyone loves to point out the MOA on th T7 which I find hilarious. The 308W is capable of excellent accuracy, way better than 1.5moa. A 2moa rifle is not limited by the 308W cartridge.I'm convinced this is a 1.5-2 MOA gun. RANGE REPORT:
- had failure to extract, with empty casings getting smashed at the neck. Have to drop the mag and clear the rounds (both the smashed empty casing and the live chambered round).
The Garand and the M14 were really built as marksman's rifles. A lot about those designs is really great for marksmanship. Modern rifles are not built that way. Will be visiting the range again today. Gonna take 3 x 308’s; my Arisaka, my Tavor and my Garand. The Garand was crazy accurate when I shot it last week Sunday. Tight groupings!!
I have a Tavor 7 on the way and was wondering about scope mounting height. My understanding is that the Tavor 7 rail is higher than the X95?I'm convinced my scope mount is too low
Although the x95 and T7 look very similar, they are quite different in weight and geometry. The Top rail on the T7 is much closer to the bore than the x95.I have a Tavor 7 on the way and was wondering about scope mounting height. My understanding is that the Tavor 7 rail is higher than the X95?
I've have a 1.93" mount on my X95 that is about perfect, but it took a while to figure that out and so I'm hoping to get it right the first time with this rifle. I have read some folks saying 1.7" as a minimum, while others finding AR height acceptable?
Much appreciated, this is exactly the info I needed! Sounds like I finally have a reason to spend on a Unity Fast Mount...Although the x95 and T7 look very similar, they are quite different in weight and geometry. The Top rail on the T7 is much closer to the bore than the x95.
I have a tall 1.93" mount and it needs more height. Even with the tall mount my head is canted on top of the stock slightly (a horrible situation for accuracy), I'm still climbing around a bit behind the scope. No bueno.
Let us know the goldilocks height when you find it!Much appreciated, this is exactly the info I needed! Sounds like I finally have a reason to spend on a Unity Fast Mount...
Yep, that's the one! If all goes well I should have it out to the range in the next 7-10 days and will update.Let us know the goldilocks height when you find it!
I have my eyes on this...https://www.rdsc.ca/optics-mounts/u...actical-fast-lpvo-scope-mount-30mm-black.html
I'm running 1.93" on my T7. I'm enjoying this height. Feels good in prone.
Thanks for this!
I have received the Tavor 7 now, and while not an exact measurement by any means it appears that the T7 rail is about a 1/4" inch higher than on my X95. If this is the case I am tempted to try the 2.05" mount on the X95 and the 1.93" on the Tavor 7. "Ah ####, here we go again".
Did you order the trigger pack direct from the manufacturer? Or via an importer? I'm thinking of getting one myself..As I suspected, I like the 1.93" on the Tavor 7.
I quite like shooting 308 and having it in this compact (if chunky) package is pretty sweet and brings a giant smile to my face. Softer shooting than I expected, although with a muzzle rise that is familiar to me as an X95 owner. I can see this coming along on wilderness/backcountry trips as a result of its compactness and overall versatility. There is also something utilitarian feeling about Tavors that I like, like they can take the abuse. I'm getting about 3MOA with bulk ball. While the stock trigger is better than stock X95, having done the trigger upgrade on the X95 I found myself wanting more of that, so the shooting sight trigger pack is on its way. I sort of expect to be able to get groups closer to 2MOA with the right ammo and a lighter trigger helping my form, but 3 MOA is totally fine to me for its use-case.
