Guys,

I've been around for a little while, and have owned probably 20 different 870's over the years. I got the chance to buy a legit 870 MCS a few years back, and other than an offer that I couldn't refuse to swap the original 10" barrel for some No4 parts, the gun is unmolested and original.

That being said, I recently bought some of S&J Hardware's MCS components, because variety is the spice of life. I have known Simon for probably 20 years, and stop in at his shop in Belleville when I have the opportunity to do so. My immediate feedback about these MCS parts is that they are perfect replicas of the originals, and if anything have an even tighter lock-up based on all surfaces being finished in Cerakote. My Speedfeed stock is original Remington MCS, and has more play in the dovetail than Simon's parts do, which slide on tight.

Some photos - the 870 is pictured with a Lockhart Raven and a Shadow Systems DR920P.

I would highly recommend that anyone that likes military-style shotguns, or modularity in general, should look at what S&J is producing. There are no more 870 MCS parts or guns being produced, and they are long out of production either way, such that original parts are now almost impossible to come by. These are faithful reproductions that I would argue are even more functional than some of the originals (see: the AR15 carbine stock adapter). I understand that Simon is working on Magpul SGA stock adapters next. MCS components are heavy (being machined entirely from steel), but do they ever feel solid.

Has anyone else bought any of this stuff? I was highly tempted to buy another 870P or a Tac-14, but being able to do everything with this single MCS has pushed those purchases away.

Are his parts steel or aluminum?

Everything I have is steel, just as the original MCS parts are. The stuff is rock solid.

Arguably, to lower costs and weight, many components likely could be machined out of aluminum, or be comprised of more parts made out of aluminum, but that would not be "clone correct" of course.

I've always like S&J kit, starting from my initial purchase of the (original version?) anodised 870 stock sling adapter to other 870 items I purchased over the years that are still in great condition today like the old knurled 1+ and 2+ mag tube extensions, jumbo safety, etc.

Top quality products whether you are looking for fun or have professional breaching duties. [In the case of the latter, most compact and out of the way is probably the way to go. I don't know if I've ever seen or heard of anyone using the chainsaw fore-end grip :p )

Beauty!! I got the mcs forend on my 870 from them and hopefully I can swing the adapter as well.
Just when you figured you got all the shotgun accessories, they gotta go and do this! Hehhehe
