I remember something about this quite a few years ago and despite my best efforts I can't locate the info....can't find brass though
I have dies
I am looking for step by step instructions

I don’t believe this is possible. You could maybe do 375 Ruger from 300 PRC but I think the length is different.

300 Win Mag is a belted magnum and 375 Ruger isn’t.

You can maybe do 300 win mag to 375 H&H as that was the win mags parent case but that’s all I can think of.

The original experiment was conducted by CFBMI, now banned.

I haven't played around with the new search function, so I don't know if you would be able to search for threads under his name. The thread ran sometime between 2012, when I joined, and his pinked date.

The 300 win belt is the same diameter as the fatter 375 ruger. Doug was simply firing 300 win in a 375 ruger and getting usable brass over several firings. The belt held it centred and the case expanded to that diameter. IIRC he cross sectioned cases and there was no cracking at the belt.

Some years ago, I read similar thing done by Ross Seyfried - written up in Handloader or Hunting magazine - I do not remember from what to what that he was doing - sounded impossible, but apparently after a few firings, could not tell that had been a belted case to start with - as if the brass simply "flowed" and matched up to the chamber. I have never done so, but would most definitely be something that I would try, if needed to.

Correct. Doug did it and I think the Yukon boys, Why not? and Medvedqc did it too.

I retract my earlier state and would like to point out.

You learn something new everyday and today I learned something I never thought possible!

This is quite interesting an may be a fun project for me down the road.

This was quite a neat find on Douglas’ part. I have a .375 wildcat where I do the same with a factory .30-06, fire a -06 round to form brass.

The .30 cal bullets exit at around 600fps, I had to chrono them out of curiosity. Amusingly, they’re still ballpark accurate enough to be worthy of trying to hit cans and such with at short ranges. I practice snap shooting with them, tipping cutoff board ends. Still bark like a rifle but no recoil, and you get formed brass.

Beats just cycling them through shooting into the dirt.
