Should I take the risk ordering a custom rifle stock from a US company?

I just tested out my new CZ 457 Varmint this weekend, and I decided its well worth some upgrades.

I really want to get a custom made to order Boyd's AT-ONE thumbhole stock for it, but I am real uneasy about it.

Even though Boyd's ships to Canada, I am worried that CBSA will seize it and I'll be out $350.

Am I worrying about it too much, or should I just go for it ?

People order from Boyd’s all the time. It’s under the $500 limit so no reason it should have any issues at the border.

I've ordered 4 stocks from Boyds and never had an issue at all.

They may hold it up for a time. Missasagga is the “black hole “ for customs. Not the brightest bunch

If it goes through Mississauga there will be delays. You also have the Taxes and CBSA 'fee' do deal with, otherwise people regularly order from Boyd's with no issues.

I am worried of it happening on account of the sh#t storm that is C-21. Having to produce one's PAL in the near future to purchase various parts I'm thinking is going to greatly affect these kinds of transactions.

Well, if you are worried about ordering this item after all the positive comments then its best you just pass it along and buy from a site sponsor.
Easy enough with little or no consequences other than to your pocket book.

Since Boyd's ships to Canada there are not many retailers that actually bring them in - mainly considering they are essentially 'custom' orders.

Be prepared for delays in customs. Last month it was 15 days, this month it was 11 days. Some people are saying up to 30 days. Ups will absolutely hose you on fees.

Looks like they are using USPS for this shipment..... that aside however, I agree with you regarding UPS they terrible on the fees. A lot of suppliers I use for my small business choose UPS for international shipping.... they fleece me regularly. Not much different then kidnappers or racketeering

Ordered 3 from Boyds this year, all arrived with ZERO issues.
Personal opinion is that they are not packed well enough though, wood stock is just wrapped in brown paper and box clearly identifies the Boyd's logo in bright red

Oh there’s reason for concern I did a custom order and it came out badly, the fore end channel not centered, the tip cut an angle left to right lol, then finished and rounded on one side of barrel channel then squared and longer on other side. I’m still disgusted so I’ve ignored it and haven’t contacted them yet. So would I buy another? Probably not. I did buy and at one that was ok but they need to go to a smith imo for proper fitment and bedding. I’ve learned my lesson on them.
