Component availability frustrations

Shooting 28ga more and more - actually almost exclusively these days. Chose my preferred load a couple years back and Spolar set the loader up and shipped it. Worked perfect. Did I mention something in the title about component availability?


20/28 powder was awesome but the whole world seems out of stock and I've heard Alliant is no longer shipping to Canada. Got a jug of Win 572 that Hodgdon has suitable loads for. Yes!

Now all I need is a 300 powder bushing. Pretty sure I searched Canada extensively before finding one in the US at OP. Has been stuck in customs now for a couple weeks. What other organization can get away with looking at your order in a week - or month - or whenever?

I have enough reloads for a practice session tomorrow and then I'll be using factory loads. Grrr.....

Isn't reloading to be therapeutic and relaxing? Rant mode off. Thanks for listening.

Where in Alberta are you at?
Our local ish gun store has one pound of alliant 20/28 sitting on the shelf
He has a pound of blue dot as well
He used to have two pounds of green dot but I grabbed those lol

Gotta work with what you have or can get these days. I like scrounging for what I can get sometimes I luck out I just was given an older can of Alliant 2400 that was still good and will be used for .410 mainly I also bought a even older square can at a gun show a while back.

Thanks Cosmic. I hadn't scrolled down in the Hodgdon power choice window and they do have 28ga loads for Longshot. I'd avoided it in the past because it's described as a magnum powder - but I see now it produces the same 1200 - 1250 as others. I haven't seen any locally (Alberta) but when things change again, I'll know to look for it.

I'm always looking for more 410 loadings, never knew you could use green dot

Caroline no. Murphs is mostly yard equipment, with a pretty tiny firearms component. We used to have a pretty decent gun store in Sundre, but they closed up.

I didn't look at the price of the Blue dot or the 20/28
The green dot that i picked up I think was 50 or 55 per pound so not bad
