Somebody has got to have licked it right to the choc co late
Yes, I have a Springfield Armory R/O and it runs like a champ. It was used when I got it so suspect a higher round count. On a more serious note, it depends on your definition of break in. Do you mean the time it takes all parts to fire fit together? Or round count before you could reliably cycle reloads and underpowered ammo? If it's the former, I'd say about 500rds and a thorough cleaning. If it's the latter, I'd recommend shooting full powered ammo for the first 500, and then you should be good to go.
Cheers

I got the 9mm Enchanced one. But the factory springs were too light and beat it self to death. It drove the spring guide into the barrel. It needed an aftermarket guide and new springs, then sonething happened that the safety got caught on the sear. But it got biffed down range a few time under anger. What was wrong with your SAM? I have the commander version and have had no issues.
O.P., 500 rounds should do it.
Well it started out as a RIA but it’s had some work done to it by KotenkoBy the 5th guide plug you launched into the ceiling.
My SA MC Operator runs like a top. Just doesn't like when I run my SWC a little long.
Funny you said RIA. I got a SAM and it's a POS.
Hmm, running smoothly without any stoppages?? If that’s possible.Define, "properly".
Price point and brand name does matter quite a bit when it comes to 1911. More reputable names such as Springfield and Dan Wesson are expected to work properly right out of the box, RIA, SAM and some other budget brands may have minor fitting issues due to stacking of tolerance that usually go away after fire fitting. If the only problem you are running into is FTE, e.g. stovepipes, then maybe try a recoil spring that's slightly lighter. If the issue is FTF, and it doesn't go away after 500rds, then maybe examine the feeding ramp or try a different magazine such as Dan Wesson or Mec-Gar, or you could try to adjust the lips of the factory magazine yourself (at your own risk of course).Yes, I have a Springfield Armory R/O and it runs like a champ. I also have a near RIA with about 200 rounds through it and it’s a bit finicky, so maybe after a few more hundred rounds, she’ll smooth out
Any decent 1911 should run reliably out of the box with ball ammo. I've had 1911's for a long, long time and never had a hang up. Not one.Hmm, running smoothly without any stoppages?? If that’s possible.
I think our NP30 runs better than our Para Ord SF45.Hmm, running smoothly without any stoppages?? If that’s possible.
Most gunsmiths recommend 500 rounds of full power 230 grain ball ammo to break in a new custom gun
