a thread of some photos that may interest some of you guys.
there is 3 books "nz hunting legends" or something like that available through Rod and rifle magazine NZ, google it up. well worth the $30.

heres a cheeky sneak of some as per the old hunting pics thread i mentioned scanning a few.....

early 1900 to late 1960 stuff here.

They never got control of the deer numbers, until the helicopter err, and refrigerated reefer trucks and wild game exports to Germany, from about mid 60’s threw to late 80’s, by the time I started hunting early 80’s. deer numbers were very low, except in heavy bush, live capture and the beginning of the farming deer,
Its all swung back to the way it was, after 30-40 year’s of heavy WARO, (wild animal recovery operations) there is no money in it, due to regulations and poison (1080). Making exports unprofitable.
More deer than ever, nothing to see 50 deer in an evening, in places. Head quality diminishing in sum areas.
lots great hunting opportunity, in NZ now,
My Dad was a culler and hut builder, got sum good stories, from the 50,60’S. a different way of life, hard tough men back then.
