Hey guys!

I just recently moved up to the Haliburton/Algonquin Highlands area.

New to the forum, look forward to learning lots about the areas crown land/clubs, and the different firearms recommendations for different seasons

Thanks!

Haliburton County Marksmen Club; Operational Shooting Association. Both between Kinmount and Minden.
Some Haliburtonians are members at Bancroft Fish and Game.
Closest indoor handgun range is in Huntsville.

Thanks for the info!
I have looked into the club in Kinmount, but was hoping for something closer.

Don't know where you are in Algonquin Highlands, but Carnarvon to either range would be well under an hour. That isn't bad these days.
OSA shoots at MilCun Training Center. w ww.osacanada.ca; w ww.milcun.com.
HCMC is a "key" club, OSA is not.

Nice to have you on board! I hunt with my buddy in WMU56. He has a property just off Blairhampton Rd. and we get deer every year. This year, the whole region is over run with young small doe so I hope you get an antlerless tag.

Thanks for the welcome!

It's funny you say that, I'm in Stanhope and the deer have been getting into the wife's garden LOL
Absolutely ruined her crop
pesky things

Hopefully I can fill my tag without leaving the property šŸ‘šŸ¼

An electric fence is about the only way to protect a garden. Three levels, so they can't crawl under, walk through, or leap over.

Rabbits and raccoons are also problems if you want to have a serious vegetable garden.

There certainly seem to be a lot of deer this season. I've had a couple of bears this spring and summer - one was quite big. Date is correct, time stamp is wrong. That lad is over 3 feet at the rump.

We haven't had any smaller animals yet, the only real pita is the skunk that's been digging up my yard. We have an open season around here on them. It's just catching them within lawful hunting hours is the problem right now

Beautiful bear!
Are you in Haliburton county as well?
