It is time for moose tag 2024 Ontario

Dang, WEST of TB? Is that because of availability of moose?? I know a few years ago, 10 of us couldn't find a bull or a cow in 18b, but have to balance distance vs cost as well.
Lots of people get skunked every year up here NWO, if you don’t know where to find em or have a guide it’s dumb luck. Even locals strike out.

I find this very interesting. Never good to hear COs assume guilty until proven innocent. Plus, I assume most moose hunters have their small game licence, and many have a deer or bear tag also, which would be valid for the south shore.
My guess is he's assuming if there is a party of hunters on opening weekend from a thousand miles away outfitted to hunt moose with a moose tag, then that's what they are doing. This one fella is all business, best to just be polite and get on with it. From the encounters I've heard of, seems like the number of charges goes up in direct proportion to how surly the offender is.

Comparing 18b to anywhere the difference in my opinion is access. 18b there is very, very limited access to the wmu. The majority of people going there are driving, not going by plane and are condensed into those few access points.

At least the other wmu’s you have people spread out more. Road hunters are high and success rates are low everywhere.

Time and money constraints are a serious problem when you’re hunting far from home. I do get it.

Spent most of my life in 41. Definitely a lot of territory and access there. You could spend every day of a year there and not see the same trail, pole line, river bank, or lake shoreline twice.

My wife was unsuccessful in the second draw, but at least I have a calf tag from Draw #1, and we only have to travel 20 minutes to hunt. One thing about the new system that is a real weakness.....people have until Dec 15th to claim their second draw tag, but many don't. Apparently last year there were 3000 unclaimed tags.
It would make more sense for 2nd draw results to have a time limit for claiming, and then somehow release the remaining tags to first come first serve, who ever was willing to pay for them.
