Just started my account on here so I apologize if this is the wrong thread to post in.

I’ve been looking into getting an SBR vector now that my restricted license is coming, preferably in 9mm or 45. I’ve seen a bunch of different versions all over the internet so I wanted to see if I can get some advice from those who have been down this path before.

For purchasing is the used market a good idea or would people be selling off blems? I get that everyone is different but the one range rental vector I’ve shot a few times often had jamming issues or the bolt would be stuck open. On GP a lot of used type 81s and ravens are fine just being scalped, but a lot of the gen 1 gsg 16s on there are lemons. Just want to hear peoples experiences.

Based off of that question, is the vector a picky rifle on ammo? I’ve seen some different answers online about the topic, I don’t have experience in choosy rifles (my T81 will eat anything and probably outlast me 😂). I usually try to find the cheapest bulk buy and run that but I think it would be fun trying different ammo if those who have one think it’ll be beneficial.

Lastly on all the bubba attachments, is there anything that is a life saving or necessary upgrade? I heard the extended mag catch is nice, but the aluminum piece is a bit heavy. I’ll probably end up getting the long mags for the cool factor, if there’s anything else I’m missing I’d love to hear about it.

Thanks for reading, I’ve just been looking around and love this community already! Happy to be a part of it now :)

Welcome to CGN, and yes, this is the right subforum for your questions.

Good choice on going with the SBR version of the Kriss Vector. Most would probably recommend the 9mm over the 45 because of the cost of ammunition (easier to find and cheaper magazines, too). If it's going to be a safe queen, that doesn't matter of course. I don't know if they're picky about ammo, sorry.

I'd be as confident buying a used Vector as any other used firearm. Any manufacturing run from any manufacturer can produce a lemon, there are no guarantees, but the Kriss has a pretty good reputation. As for used, if you can trust the seller and they have proved the firearm reliable, that might be worth something to you. But often the savings of buying used are just not worth it.

Aside from probably an optic and extra magazines, you don't need any aftermarket bits.

Welcome and great questions. The Vector SBR is relatively niche in Canada because it's a premium PCC while not considered the best choice for competition (imo due to reduced adaptability and customisation?).

It attracts an owner with an eye for uniqueness / collectability / quality. Such owners are rarely short of safe space, budget, or time - so finding used listings are rare. Proof is no listings on GP for a year, while 2 WTB adverts have sat for similar time? Then there is the Restricted requirement so finding a new Vector SBR is a PITA. I only see them on Backorder currently (use ArsenalForce to shortlist some vendors)?

Spare parts is via NorthSylva but they don't sell direct, nor give prices to individuals, so orders need to go via local gun shop. An alternative is buying 2 Vectors, one R, one NR, gives all the spare parts and allows picking the most appropriate lower for the day.

Stories of excessive jamming may, in part, be due to the Vector being popular as a "first gun" (because video games). Therefore under-lubing or improper cleaning or operation may be more probable than mechanical issue?

Aftermarket, each to their own, some like to run a vertical foregrip on the Vector. Whereas I'd say this moves the support hand away from the controls and intended hold so necessitates things like the airsoft mag release. The "Enhanced 6.5" with the short barrel shroud and hand stop is good as-is.

(It is internet law that every post about Vectors needs to include "Vectors are full auto 45 or trash")

Thanks for the experience on used, I’ll take a look and see what I find. If I do find a good one I’ll post it on here!

Thanks for the great insight. Yeah I’ve been trying to GP snipe a deal which is what I did with my type 81 and Raven, but no luck so far.

Good point on the grip, a stubby is my go to for most of my rifles so this might be my sign to run a factory setup 😂

Thanks for the info!
