Hello everyone! Was wondering who could all share there experiences with Barnes Match Burners.

I’ve order 500 of them in 112 grain since the price is right and seem to be an alright choice. Will be loading them in my 6mm creedmoor. I run a 26” barrel.

Any info on the bullet will be nice but something specific to that cartridge would be even better.

When they are on sale, they are the best value in long range shooting. They have the best BC of any bullet in their class.

Grouping wise, I found the Berger hybrids group tighter. But they cost twice as much.

The 112 6mm MB is about a .310 G7.

Something like 41 grains of H4350 is probably a good stout load and might get you 3000fps. I don't have a 6 Creed so I can't be precise. I'm sure you can copy any 108 eldm or 109 hybrid load data you find.

Load them as long as you can for your magazine and have at least 20thou jump.

My gun groups the 108 eldm very small. For the price I would be happy .75 or smaller. My gun seems to be an exceptional shooter so we will see.

107gr SMK is another option if you can find in large amount.
The price between them and eldm isn’t that much so I’d just run the hornadys between the two. Gun loves them. Plus I can get them much easier than the sierras.

Just hoping this higher bc, lower cost bullet will be an option too.

Below is the test results that I posted on another forum, IMHO barnes match burners shoot as good as any bergers or Lapua scenar's that I have shot, I have about 800 rounds through my 6mm creedmoor now.

I have brass with both SRP and LRP for my 6mm creedmoor so I loaded up some identical loads with 40.5gr IMR4350 and 105gr Barnes match burners, for the small primers I used CCI 450 SRMP and for the large primers I used Fed 210 then headed off to the range to test them. The SR brass was Lapua and the LR brass was Hornady.
The rifle is an Insite arms build spec's below, the scope is a bushnell elite tactical XRS - 4.5 - 30 x 50mm FFP Mil the gun complete weighs in at 19.2 lbs.
Mack Bros Evo Stainless Action
Krieger 1/7.5 MTU 26"
Bix'n Andy Tac Sport Pro
MDT XRS Chassis BLACK
10/12rnd AICS Mag
Heathen Brake 4 Port G2
Cerakote Graphite Black
3/8moa Guarantee with Target

I shot 2 groups of 5 shots each with both it's a small sample size I know but figured if there is a big difference it would show up.

CCI 450 - average velocity 3011 ES 34.7 SD 12.6 average of both groups .512"

FED 210 - average velocity 3011 ES 26.5 SD 10.15 average of both groups .521"

Strangely enough both were identical average velocity, the LRP had a better ES and SD but the groups were just a tad larger by .009" which could be the shooter

The best group was with the FED 210 @ .387 but also the worst group @ .655"

There is clearly no winner as both shot really well and stay around that magical .500" that I am looking for.

Good to hear. Ya I’m hoping my gun likes these 112s. Better bc and less money haha

The 112gr MB shoot very well in my 7.7t 6mm Creed, I used RL26 and got around 2960 fps 24" barrel. The 6.5mm MB shoot well in my Creed and PRC too in both 140 and 145gr - great value precision bullet

I should have some test loads going by the weekend. Also going to try the new 80 grain eld-vt for a coyote load.

The 112 MB that I tried in my 6mm CM were running at 2985 with IMR4350 and shot into .600" groups average, they were OK but not as accurate at the 105gr, I still have some to load yet and may tweak the load a bit and see if I can shrink the groups.

I have not had much luck with any bullets lighter that 103gr in mine, mind you I have not spent much time trying the 87gr Vmax and 90gr HPBT, the 105gr shoots so good I really don't see the point of going any lighter.

I don't load many bullets lighter than 100gr either, but have had good luck with 87gr Vmax & 90gr Sierra TGK. I have some of the new 80gr ELD-VT to try, but haven't made time yet for that. The 95gr Barnes LRX works really well if you're looking at hunting bullets

This is what I have got with the 80 eld-vt with 43.7 of h4350 in hornady large rifle cases with fed match.

I have comparable results with lapua small rifle cci primers with same charge. About 30fps faster though. From what I have seen they are a very temperamental bullet. I went from that group to a 1 inch group to a 2.5 inch group all within .4 of a grain of powder change. It shot ok under that 43.7 charge too but blew right open after that.

Update on my 112 match burner load. I have found a good one.

H4831sc 43.5gr
Lapua small brass
Cci 400 primer
Seated approx .100 of lands ( just happened to be max mag length but seen another good spot a bit closer to lands)
3085fps 2.8 sd and 6.4 es for 4 shots (if I remember correctly)
Shot a tiny group at 100 yards
