10-22 Mags

I have 3 Ruger-brand 10-22 mags. They are all giving the came problem. Load with 5 rounds. The first 2 feed fine, the third usually jams. Nose of the bullet doesn't pop up enough. Must drop the mag and bash it on the bench. Anybody experience this?
This is using Remington subsonic ammo. In a Springfield Armory 2020 rifle.

Have you ever cleaned them. How old are they or rather have a lot of rounds gone thru them? Take apart, clean and reassemble. Try them again and if it still has a problem then wind a bit tighter. If none works try someone else’s mag or a new one. If all fails then switch bullets as suggested by OkayShooter

Thanks guys. The mags are all new. Will try other ammo too. Come to think of it, I did try some other stuff when the gun was new couple weeks ago, and I don't recall having a problem. But this stuff shoots good in it, so been using it exclusively getting ready for an event this weekend.....

With a 10/22 or any other semi, the first question is what sort of ammo feeds the most reliably. Not all do! After that, if you have multiple kinds that all work, then it makes sense to compare for accuracy.

If all 3 are new and giving you the same issues. It's the ammo.

Try wacking the back of the mag off the bench before loading to seat all the round to the back.

Well, this isn't a semi, and accuracy is the first priority. Luckily have found an Eley ammo that shoots good, and it feeds fine as well.

My guess that the bullets may been a bit oversized and the nose were binding up against the mag body. Probably would had to cycle the bolt back hard for that shock factor to have it function.

Are they the BX-1 rotary mags? I talked to someone recently that said the new Ruger BX-1 mags they bought didn't come with enough spring tension in them, wouldn't feed well. Might have to take them apart and put another quarter turn or so of spring tension in them? Maybe?

I found with mine, I use the dremel with a flat wire brush wheel to polish up the metal lips. I got a new BX-1 a few weeks ago and now have it working very well. Of course I did spend time, polish, check then polish more until I was satisfied with the performance. Do this at your own risk though.

saw a price of 3-for-$75? iirc, but can't find them again
