Hello from Poland!

well you wont have to drive far to see the best canada has to offer....just go west from alberta.;)

I heard some rumors about the sandy beaches just West of Calgary, but looks like there is still some kind of civilization across the Rocky Mountains ;)
Good to hear from you.
Thanks

Thank you Curtton.
In fact it took me a few years.
I arrived on the American gun forum called Glock Talk in 2003 and started to write there somehow...for sure not in English :D
At least not in the form of the language known so well across the pond.
Since then I'm slowly improving the writing skills.
I wish I could speak as good as I'm writing, but using the internet forum is the only, real form of contact with English for me.
Thanks God I made some real good friends on the GT.
They came to Poland (pretty long way for them), visited my place, slept in our flat and enjoyed the great food prepared by my wife.
Then I had the chance to speak a little bit.
I'm going to take some English conversation classes in Edmonton.
I need it badly.
However your government did a smart thing.
If you want to immigrate into Canada you have to pass the language exam conducted by the British Council.
It's called IELTS.
They are testing the writing, listening, reading and speaking skills of the candidates.
Looks like I made it ;)
Now to the point.
The only real gun factory here is the Weapon Factory Lucznik Radom.
I'm not sure if you could take a tour there.
However in the capital city of Poland - Warsaw you can find two interesting museums:
- The Polish Army Museum,
- The Warsaw Rising Museum.
Those two are pretty cool.

thanks for the info.

if you picked up writting that fast then it wouldnt be long before you talk like us, eh ? :D

btw, we call flat , apartment here if you rent and condominium (or condo) if you own .

come to vancouver island, you will never want to leave! some of the best beaches in the world, huge waves, very beautiful scenery. the people here on the island are way more laid back compared to the other side of the country.

Welcome Nestor!

Interesting timing, I just recevied an invitation, (As I am sure many others did), from Diane Finley, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration to attend an announcement event in regards to changes pertaining to Polish visitor Visa requirements.

To be perfectly honest with you - I can see some dark clouds on the horizon.
I'm reading now the local forums and I can see how the Polish so called "tourists" are preparing for the jump across the ocean.
They are not going to look for some nice views there.
Maybe our new homeland is ready for such scenario?
I hope so.
We went thru a long, legal way.
I'm not sure if this picture is violating the rules (if so, please feel free to delete it), so here we are.

Hiya friend.
You'll love it here.
Make sure to get a certificate of clean record from the police department so that you can apply for your firearms licence without delay.

The invite for the event had ZERO details... go figure. I am hoping it is a positive anouncement.

Anyway, glad to see things are working out for you and I hope that once you come over you can get your family here as soon as possible! All the best!!!

how could the canadian immigration officer not allow you and your family in ? when you show up in those shirts, smart....eh?

Trained with Dariusz Ciesnsky a while back, a pioneer in martial arts in Poland (knife fighting, stick fighting, Jeet Kune Do). He trains troops in Iraq in hand to hand combat. Being former military maybe you heard of him?

Hello Nestor
Welcome to Canada. I am first generation born in Canada, Polack.
You will love it here. I know a few immigrants that have come here.
You have a great looking family.
Kind Regards, Henek

Sure thing, I will remember about you
I will bring some pierogies with me.

forget the pierogies, there are plenty of babchas that can supply the eats, I got one right next door, now if your bringing Krowka and Wyborowa then were taking :), I know it's a weird combo but who doesn't like candy and booze:runaway:

best wish for you and your family in your new home

Your excitement really reminds me what makes this country great. I am happy and excited for you. People just like you are what this country was founded on, unfortunately many people forget that. I'm sure my great grandfather felt just like you when he moved to Canada from Sweden in the 1920s and probably the same for many of our relatives.

Welcome to Canada and best wishes!
