Just made an order from Wholesalesports it was 1 pound of Powder and 300 primers.. So they called to see If I accepted the shipping fees in according with dangerous goods. They have to ship it By DHL.. They told me that It was 16$ fo each items because tehy had to put them in separated boxes.. +++ 10$ for the standard shipping cause I live In Quebec.. So for an order of 40$ I just get 42$ of shipping any of you ever had this problem with them...

Primers and powder won't be shipped together and they are required to ship it via courier. It usually is cheaper to buy powder and primers locally.
This is why they called you and rest is up to you wether you still wanna do it or not.

My take - cancel the order, buy locally.

I Know but the first place I will get any of this Is a 8 hours from me... I live in Quebec Country but rellay far from Quebec City

Well then look at it this way.... 42$ shipping vs ###$ for the gas it will cost you for your 8hr round trip. I know it sucks, but you should be thinking how much you are saving versus an 8hr drive... not blaming wholesale for anything.

Well it looks like you will either pay for shipping or pay for fuel !! If you do go with the shipping you may wan't to make sure that DHL will deliver to your door. In my rathole part of Ontario Canada Post is the only service available, unfortunatlly they do not deliver primers or powder. good luck

Its not wholesales fault that you live 8 hours away from the nearest nor is it there fault that they have to charge the price for shipping . Like the others said shipping vs fuel+the 8 hour drive and chances are the power at the local store than WSS. If you have have to pay the shipping , Make it worth while and buy a few thousand primers and a few pounds of powder or if you dont need that much ,get some buddys that reload and do a group buy to split the shipping cost :)

I feel your pain.

That is the same reason I waited until I was going to Calgary to buy; powder, primers, and CCI min-mags.

It would have cost me more to ship it to B.C. than my entire trip's price of gas.

You mistitled your thread. It should be "DHL's high shipping costs on goods classified as dangerous"

I store my primers and powder in locked drawers of separate tool chests at home. Why would you expect shippers to put them in the same box for transport? Don't you find that living in the remote north causes most goods you buy to have higher costs than people pay elsewhere?

Why bash Wholesale for costs associated with shipping to where you live?

We just did that, order more then 21 lbs and they pay the shipping. There was 4 of us ,did not take long to get to 21 lbs.
Gord.

Is that all?

I picked up 16 lbs. of Varget from WSS and 2 lbs. of H4198 (I would have bought a 8 lb. jug if they had one.)

It would have been very easy to buy 24 lbs. if it had all been in stock when I was there.

What are their prices like compared to WSS?

X2 for Higginson....get 2 friends to buy an 8lb jug each and free shipping (minus the $15 HASMAT fee) My primers and powder came in seperate boxes but I don't believe I got charged any more because of it.

Buying small amounts of anything that needs to be shipped is never cost effective. My brother just received a new laser unit to repair his Xbox 360, it was $5 for the part and $12 to air mail it from Hong Kong. High shipping costs for cheap purchases is not specific to guns, Wholesale Sports or the Wilderness of Quebec.

I suggest you buy many pounds of powder and multiple cartons of primers to help spread the cost around. Otherwise, I have no suggestions.

Sorry guys didn't wanted to hurt anyone of you by threading Wholesalesports...SO this is my first experience for high shipping cost like this... I've been ordering anything in the past ... It was the first time that the shipping was higher than the buying cost... I understand that It's not Wholesale... fault but DHL....
