Hunter and his dog missing in Northern BC ----> UPDATE: Dog Proved Not to be Murphy!

Who leaves their phone wallet and keys inside the truck?
No one, that’s who.
More to this I think..,
I agree. That's sad, I'm thinking the man may have wanted a solitary exit and left everything behind so it'd be easy for family to be located. Or, as someone mentioned, maybe the dog ran off and he chased it and got lost. Either way, I hope he's okay and family stays strong.

Many hunters and fishermen leave valuables hidden behind. Better to risk that than risk losing a truck key in the bush or bottom of the lake. I wouldn't read much into that part of it.

I would bet he got lost or injured, but hopefully he'll be found.

I see the seach has been called off.

My first thought with a Paramedic going missing is suicide, I'm sure they deal with a lot of sh*t in FSJ.

The fellow missing in Redfern strikes me as being injured/killed by something; accident or Bear, etc.

Hopefull they both turn up safe.

If suicide then where's the dog? Wouldn't leave my dog to slow die in the woods or locked in a truck. Most people i thought would leave dog with friends, family, at least a good boarding facility. If humans got him then why leave his valuables behind? / why not hide or torch his truck to cover their tracks? Seems either both dog and human got lost and couldn't find the truck again, or grizzly got them (possibly both). Hopefully they are alright. Or if not hopefully at least their remains are found for closure.

If he's dead but the dog isn't, the dog is probably chilling with his corpse waiting for him to wake up from his nap.

I hope they find him. Foul play seems unlikely given the valuables left in the truck, but who knows... if the guy had enemies they might have left all that stuff behind to limit the ability to trace anything back to them. Pretty suspicious if you get found with a dead guys wallet or phone...

People have been going missing in DC, and we're either involved in the drug trade or the search for a missing woman. Another tragedy, but there is no sense in spreading misinformation from Manitoba.

Leaving your keys in your pickup seat on an FSR is not unheard of.

Depending where he was on the road, this is more agricultural transition land than the kind of bush that scares people from Ontario. By the standards of the area it is well populated and easy access.

There is a surprisingly large population of grizzly bears in the nearbye Arras/ Kiskatinaw Valley area.

Applying the logic of a mentally healthy person to a suicidal one is a fools errand, what you would do with your dog is inconsequential

Hope that he is found

The other fellow is definitely out in the kind of bush that will swallow you whole. Plenty of natural hazards to be considered in the northern rockies easy country

3 of us at archery deer camp this weekend. While two of us tore down camp the third guy went chasing birds that were on the edge of camp. We finished tearing everything down when we realized the third guy hadn’t returned, 30-35min later.

I got on the horn to let him know it was time to go. Then again, then again. Then my other friend checked his truck. Cell phone, cigarettes, compass sitting on passenger seat.

I got back on the horn and that proceeded for about 80min before we heard his yells echoing down the river.

He came out drenched in sweat, pants tore, bloodied leg, said he had a full on panic attack thinking we’d left him lost out there.

Just chasing birds on the edge of camp. Things go sideways fast in the bush. Small mistakes can be deadly ones.

Guy in Kirkland Lake went missing in 2017, all the same speculation. Found him the summer of 2021. In the end the guy got lost on is atv. ran out of gas and died walking. Had a heart condition. Police searched never found anything. In the end a couple guys out for a ride found him by chance.

Scares people from Ontario...it's a big place, the vast majority of it is as wild as it gets.
Apparently Geography is not your strong suit. BC has more vertical deviation, but not more wilderness. The Canadian Shield bush that covers most of Northern Ontario is as thick and impenetrable as it gets.

If I’m working in the bush I generally leave my keys and wallet in the truck somewhere, pretty sop with work crews. Lvl3 first aid kit is in the truck, which is the designated etv. So everyone knows where the keys are left in case there’s an emergency and someone needs to be transported out, usually behind the door to the gas cap.
