Old Mossberg, New Stock

I must start by apologizing, I have no clue what model of rifle this is right now without looking at my registration.


I have an older model Mossberg .22 semi auto, tube feed from the butt stock.

The stock is pretty banged up but not cracked. So, I was hoping I could find a synthetic stock for it or a new laminate or something along that line.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I will try to get pictures in the near future but right now its not possible.

PS before its suggested. I won't be getting rid of it to buy a 10/22.
 
Sounds like a 'x51' model of some variation. It should be stamped on the barrel.

That's almost certainly a walnut stock, by the way, so don't be too quick to chuck it. You'd be surprised how easy it is to refinish a stock, and get nice results. This one used to be in pretty ugly shape . . .

Pretty darn close...

The finger grooves behind the trigger look right but the action looks different. That pin hole above the trigger even looks familiar.
 
It is very unlikely that either synthetic or laminated stocks were ever made, or ever will be. You could check w ww.e-gunparts.com, they might have original stocks.
 
If it has a screw-in plug at the back of the receiver, it is probably a 51 or a 151 (or variant) If it has a smooth, tapering plastic plug at the back, then it is probably a 351 series. These are fine, accurate rifles, with few issues. I own several, and prefer them to most modern semis. Regards, Eagleye.
 
It has that smooth tapered plastic cap at the back of the receiver.

I like it a lot! I, or anyone else that shoots it, can easily put an entire box of any type of ammo in the 10 ring at 50 yards all day.

And, to make it better... it likes to be dirty! I clean it once a year, any more and I lose accuracy.

I was just thinking a synthetic stock would be nice but I guess I could always refinish it.
 
its anold 151. judgeing by the sights on it id say a 151k. i grew up with that same gun. i still have the brasspush rod that goes up the but stock.
she was a dirty gun, i ceaned the boare after shooting it but thats it.
mine had a sweet spot on the trigger for "fun mode". i saw one at a gun show once, the guy was asking 490ish for it.

I MISS MY OLD GUN, :( id trade my 10\22 for one if my wife would let me

The tapered rear cap you described earlier means its a 351k (later variant). I have one as well, also an excellent shooter. You could contact Havlinsales.com to see if they have a replacement stock for it, but as Tiriaq said, I doubt you'll find anything but an original wood replacement.
 
Now I have just the one, but a single shot target rifle passed through my hands a while back. Also a great little shooter. It's funny what serendipity drops in your lap, and then you find out what you've got!
