Modern Sporter

Hey folks,

I forgot if these receivers originally came with pins. If my receiver doesn't have any takedown/pivot pins installed would any AR15 pins work? Or was the rear one proprietary? Just wondering how I should go about this.

The rear is proprietary fixed where upper sits in place. Front is of your choosing.

I need a rear pin where could I get one?

I read somewhere that a standard rear AR pin can work.

Everybody is correct!

Up to... I don't recall at exactly which point, maybe serial #1000 or #1500, that we started drilling a rear hole to allow standard AR rear pins to be used, this was done for people wanting to use stylish pins. The sporter however is a different animal than an AR15, it was not designed from an AR15, and as a bi-product, the distance for that rear spring and detent is not the same. It requires a detent, a spring, and then another detent behind it. In place of a second detent you can use basically anything that will fit in its place but not too tightly. Basically anything about 3/8" long and smaller in diameter than 3/32". Ideally, another detent.

Thanks for the answer Shaun. Another question, is it normal that I have to use a small hammer to get my front pin in? This is just on a new build, so it might loosen up. I don't really mind, just wondering if this could just be a tolerance thing.

Without the pins out there just seems to be a tiny (probably a cm or two) mismatch between where the rear pin catch and the rear pin hole line up. with the rear pin in first, every time I hammer the front pin in it takes a tiny little sliver of material out of the hole.

Hi guys,

Question. I would love to build a 458 socom but do you know if your MS's ejection port is large enough and if theframe can handle the thumb?.
I don't believe so. When you ordered them, you could request ATRS enlarge the ejection port for this purpose. That's the word on the street.

Off topic, but this necro thread brought up a question of mine. When the conservstives inevitably get in and undo the OIC crap are you guys going to sell MS rifles or receivers again? I badly want one but won’t pay gougey current prices of the classified/gûñpö$ț

You're gonna be in for a surprise if they do go back on sale. Dude lost boat loads of money from the prohibition order, plus the legal fees from fighting it... Don't be shocked if the cost is on par with EE pricing or higher. Look at every black rifle made in Canada, almost all of them are garbage and cost as much as a mid-high endish AR.
