Works out to $18.61 Canadian funds per 50 rounds, I'm not liking the price thus far!.....![]()
Indeed, the same for me.I have been known to spend that much on .22 ammo (good stuff)
Time will tell. If lead free is mandated for .22, then there may be more merit for the 21. People may jump on it the way they did for the 6.5 Creed.Indeed, the same for me.
Although the 21 Sharp needs to be a proven tack driving rifle, or many will not want to try it. My opinion only......![]()
Indeed, not very encouraging:Lets see some testing outside at 100 yards with a light breeze.
Not expecting anything encouraging.
It's been used in a few firearms, most famously Colt's original Python barrels. - danI'd rather have a tapered bore bolt action rifle that swages the bullet to a smaller diameter after pulling the trigger. An Australian guy came up with something like that in the past.
To heck with the 1022; how about CZ? Simple barrel swap. Were there CZ manufacture barrel available, I might be tempted to try it.I think Winchester needs to let other companies make the ammo, I’ve never had good experience with Winchester ammo but 21sharp made by cci in a 1022? That might be something worthwhile
Simple barrel swap on 10/22 as well! No beer can shims required. Hopefully the accuracy is still as good as prior to the shimming? I think the poor reviews and lacklustre accuracy combined with high price ammo has doomed this from the start!!To heck with the 1022; how about CZ? Simple barrel swap. Well, you can't really adjust head space on a 1022 because you are relying on a spring to do it for you. Semi-autos with non locking actions have variable head space by design.Simple barrel swap on 10/22 as well! No beer can shims required. I got that, and agree. I read the hype on the the 6.5 Creed then looked at the data and for me, it would be a step-down from 6.5 x 55 SE. 6 creed has some unique traits.I’m quite aware of the workings of a 10/22 platform. Only mentioned easy barrel swapping!!! If a barrel was available for the 21 that could give it some traction. Seeing there’s many millions of 10/22s out there. I love my 6.5 and 6 creed.
The upside of the failure of 5mm to gain traction, was that there were a lot of really decently strong actions out there, that were pretty handily adapted to small center-fire units, with a little machine shop time.I had a 5mm Rem. Was a better hunting round than the 22 LR. Ammo was never common or cheap though. - dan
There was a kit for that, a few years after you couldn't get ammo. Brass too. - danThe upside of the failure of 5mm to gain traction, was that there were a lot of really decently strong actions out there, that were pretty handily adapted to small center-fire units, with a little machine shop time.
IIRC the Remingtons (591/592) were supposedly proofed for 60K psi, by design, grossly over what was required. So a lot of cheap rifles got converted to various tiny center-fire Wildcats.
