21Sharp, will it survive?

Indeed, the same for me.

Although the 21 Sharp needs to be a proven tack driving rifle, or many will not want to try it. My opinion only......:)
Time will tell. If lead free is mandated for .22, then there may be more merit for the 21. People may jump on it the way they did for the 6.5 Creed.

I think Winchester needs to let other companies make the ammo, I’ve never had good experience with Winchester ammo but 21sharp made by cci in a 1022? That might be something worthwhile

To heck with the 1022; how about CZ? Simple barrel swap. Were there CZ manufacture barrel available, I might be tempted to try it.

Simple barrel swap on 10/22 as well! No beer can shims required. Hopefully the accuracy is still as good as prior to the shimming? I think the poor reviews and lacklustre accuracy combined with high price ammo has doomed this from the start!!

Well, you can't really adjust head space on a 1022 because you are relying on a spring to do it for you. Semi-autos with non locking actions have variable head space by design.

In light of the 260 Remington and the 6.5 x 55 Swede, the 6.5 Creedmoor should never have caught on either, but it did. The 21 sharp is unique enough that if they can get it to shoot accurately and with environmental concerns, it does stand a chance. The marketers need to get more parties to buy-in to it.

And yes, if Ruger built a rifle/barrels for it; that would certainly help their cause.

I’m quite aware of the workings of a 10/22 platform. Only mentioned easy barrel swapping!!! If a barrel was available for the 21 that could give it some traction. Seeing there’s many millions of 10/22s out there. I love my 6.5 and 6 creed.

I got that, and agree. I read the hype on the the 6.5 Creed then looked at the data and for me, it would be a step-down from 6.5 x 55 SE. 6 creed has some unique traits.

I had a 5mm Rem. Was a better hunting round than the 22 LR. Ammo was never common or cheap though. - dan
The upside of the failure of 5mm to gain traction, was that there were a lot of really decently strong actions out there, that were pretty handily adapted to small center-fire units, with a little machine shop time.

IIRC the Remingtons (591/592) were supposedly proofed for 60K psi, by design, grossly over what was required. So a lot of cheap rifles got converted to various tiny center-fire Wildcats.

Who has some of this in stock in Canada? It's interesting enough, I'd buy a rew hundred rounds to hold onto..I've always toyed with the idea of turning the base of flat base 223 bullets and loading them into 22lr cases.

This is basically it but it seems it doesn't still just use a normal 22lr barrel. Either way I'd stock some ammo

There was a kit for that, a few years after you couldn't get ammo. Brass too. - dan
