The 30-30 club, are you in?

As a lefty shooter I have always dreamed of a .30-30 lever deer gun. Hoping someday soon to get into a 336 Marlin and do some shooting

I just purchased a 1950 production 336 RC. I've never owned a marlin, or a 30-30 lever gun, although I've had .32 ws and 38-55's. Really liking the marlin so far, I just put a Williams fp sight on it tonight. Seems to feed better than my winchesters.

While doing some weekend work, I decided to check a buy sell. At first glance I assumed something was missing, but it really was for sale and complete for just a days wages. I was the 5th viewer on the ad and sent all my contact info immediately! An hour later I was driving to the city to pickup.

A 1980 Winny Mo. 94 in 30-30. My first lever and my first 30-30. I've shot a pre-64 in 32sp before. Any suggestion on ammo? I assume some sort of 140gr round point or polymer tipped stuff?

Any suggestions on what to do with the patina'd receiver?

Do people usually not use slings for these? Do I need a saddle bag on my belt?

The trigger is pretty sloppy but I hear that's just a post-64 issue. I 'll look into adding a spring after some more reading into it.

Funny thing is despite how short it is, it's actually the same length as my bolt action and that was a main selling point for me.....We'll see how it shoots and go from there
.

Just ordered this as my eyes need all the help possible and I’m not in favour of a side mount scope on my pre 64 . Or any modifications really , this is temp and easily corrected. Amazon reviews say the front is brilliant and the rear is ####e , like they were made by two different manufacturers?

First centerfire rifle to call my own was an early 50's vintage model 94. Well used, has a few bits of its own weirdness. Added a receiver site to work with somebody elses pre existing threaded holes a long time ago. Has been with me at some point in the woods every autumn since.

i have a Marlin 336SS, made in 2009. Im using it for hunting this year, i have about 200x 150-170gr SP, and 60x 190gr buffalo bore hard cast for bear control, or if i hunt moose

The Savage 99 was one of the highest quality levers ever - IMHO. I had one in .243 and in a moment of temporary insanity, I let a buddy talk me out of it. They possess an extremely high level of beauty and nostalgia.

I've had Win 94,Marlin 336 and Savage 340.

Win was nicest to carry,Marlin was heavier but very accurate and the savage was clunky but I could load 110s super fast in it to plunk groundhogs just to say I did it.
