Rem 870 Magazine 'dimples'

Hi All,
I am attempting to fit a TacStar magazine extension to my 870 super express. Any suggestions on the best way to remove the dimples used for the mag caps ?.

Drill them out with a 1/4" bit.

Clean up the burrs inside the tube.

I have removed the dimples on one using an appropriately sized deep socket and a hammer, followed up by a steel file.

I've also done them with a 1/4" drill.

The 1/4" hole with a drill bit is the way to go - you never see the hole unless you're cleaning it, and it's less work than my first way.

Take your 870 and disassemble.

You'll notice that the dimples are usually covered by the barrel ring.

So whether you are using a mag extension or a regular cap, you'll never see the holes until you pull the barrel.

If you use a reamer, holes aren't necessary.
