Why does my mint numbers matching non refurb 1945 m44 carbine appear to have German eagle stamps on both the stock and shank of the barrel?

There were a number of guns that came out of Yugoslavia with German WW2 vintage stamps, including guns that were post 1945.
Someone had the stamps and applied them. You can buy these stamps now, if you wish.

Quite a few of the M-44 carbines with fake markings were imported by Marstar back in he day.

I have one of the supposed "Nazi Marked" M44's that came from Marstar back in the day. The one I have was probably Hitler's personal M44. :p

I have read that there are quite a few m44 carbines with fake German markings. Also the fact that your particular m44 was made in 1945 and has german markings seems odd to me. Too late in the war. For reference here are a few pictures of a German depot marked 91/30 with stock cartouches that I found earlier this year.

East German deployment?
Germany sold thousands of "capture" M91 type rifles and carbines to the Finns. They were from every manufacturer, from what I've read, US, Belgian, Russian. I've seen a couple which supposedly came from that sale, but it's always been word of mouth or just someone "assuming" it to be so because the original manufacturer wasn't Russian.

I agree, the stamps are "someone's" afterthought, post war.

The Germans had thousands of the rifles, of all models in their inventories and even gave them designations. They did the same with most Soviet capture armament to my knowledge.

Hmm, I have found a few more 1945 m44’s on the internet with the same markings in the same places including one at RIA described as being very scarce. Lots of different opinions as well, interesting if nothing else. Would love to know the truth

Its obvious these are fake based on the fact that they just aren’t period correct German stamps. The one on the receiver is fantasy style waffenamt, and a depot reworked M44. wouldn’t have a waffenamt on the receiver, thats the sort of thing you see from original production. The marking on grip is just a Reichsadler (Nazi eagle), which were only used as firing proofs. Actual captured reworked rifles will have a depot specific waffenamt or some other unique marking on occasion.

I don’t know where you are getting your other opinions wrong, but anyone who says this is original doesn’t know what they are talking about.

ps. RIA and other big auction houses are not a good resource for information on German arms. They all sell bs German rifles all the time.

Hey, I picked mine up cheap because I wanted an M44.

Posted it up on here and wow...purists were spitting and wrinkling up their noses.
"You might as well D & T it! It's ruined now, garbage..."
Tell them you are gonna post it for sale as authenticate...just to see them spin.

I checked mine. The “German markings “ consist of a few tiny eagles on the barrel and receiver, etc, nothing noticeable on the stock. Mine is sn TC44, 1945r. Maybe Hitler’s signature is on a scrap of paper under the buttplate. 💁
