any idpa in nb/ns /maritime kanada?

Closest thing you are going to get is IPSC. Some matches are set up with a lot of ports, walls, and fault lines.....which force the shooter to shoot around "cover". If you want to shoot with a jacket on (like an IDPA vest), ..than shoot IPSC matches with a vest on...I have done it,...makes you work your drawing from concealed technique. I think it would be fun,...but the rules are different, and no one locally is certified to run an IDPA match.
Yeah, your best bet is maine.
I like to shoot, but even IPSC/USPSA matches are only usually 50-60 rounds in Maine. Long way to go for maybe 4 stages.

For several years, I would drive to monthly IDPA matches in Montana (6 hours each way) to gain experience so that I could start a local club in Calgary.....

Will they come?

That is the saying I used behind our club and they came. I think there is no reason that IDPA could not do well in your province. Believe it or not but there are a lot of pistol owners across this nation and give them a cheap, fun, safe venue to shoot in and they will.

Research IDPA at www.idpa.com for what you need to do and how to compete in the sport.

If you contact Patrick McCafferty at:

patmcc_1@sympatico.ca

he is IDPA Eastern Canada Area Cordinator he should be able to help you. Pat is located in Ottawa and I am sure he will provide you with any information you may need as far as setting up a club. I do know he is willing to travel to provide Safety Officer courses etc.

Take Care

Bob

Thanks Maurice,

If anyone is interested in starting an IDPA affiliation or club affiliation then please contact us. Once a club has its IDPA affilation and it members (at least 6 members) then we will send one of our IDPA Safety Officer Instructors to you club to train your Safety Officers. On the next day while the IDPA Safety Officer instructor is still in your location, he/she can run an IDPA introducton safety course for all new members and utilize their new Safety Officers under match conditions.

All it takes is one full weekend to have your Saftey Officers and your new shooters trained. After that each club will be more than capable at running matches, classifiers, introduction courses and bringing in new members... now for the costs... at this time the cost for all this will only be the travelling, meal, adminstrative, and accomadation expenses. The actual course will be free. If someone was willing to Billet the Saftey Officer Instructor, then the total cost would be dramatically reduced. These expenses would be calulated prior to the course so you will know much it will cost.

If you are interested in starting a club affiliation or joining IDPA, please contact myself or Canuck44 either by phone, pm, or e-mail. Our contact information can be found at www.idpacanada.com

Please remember that IDPA is just another flavour of shooting sport. Its there for you to enjoy if you wish.

We have a very popular unsanctioned 3 gun match called shock and awe (I did not name it) towards the end of the summer at the Restigouche Range. You would be welcome to shoot it. No black badge required. You can follow IDPA rules. Maurice I think shot with a jacket on the year before last.

yes, i did, bladetech belt holster, fobus mag pouches.
I didn't this year as my daughter and son and nephew took all my kydex gear ,...fun weekend, but my ammo supplies in .223, and 9mm went down big time....
I like the 40 pieces of steel with only 40 shots fired, ...my specialty!
I heard steel challenge and shock and awe are combined this year....?
