Spring Bear hunting what rifle and caliber will you be carrying?

Last year I loaded up some 165 grain Grandslams for my .300 savage (99). And I was planning on bear hunting with that outfit. I never got out for bear and in the mean time I bought a Win. M100 in .284. I loaded up some 140 gr. Nosler Ps and so I will giver a go with that rig. Now In Alberta in some areas you can shoot two bears in the spring (Sorry Ont. guys) so I might use the Savage for my second bear.

Huskvarna M98 in 9.3x57, loaded with 250gr TSX over a caseful of IMR 3031. I have to drive to Quebec to hunt bear in the spring, but I'd rather hunt bear than turkey. Yes it sucks to live in Ontario (sometimes).

I plan to use one of the following:
-shotgun with slugs
-bow for that 'up close and personal approach'
-or one of my 30 cal rifles

Remington Model 700 in 300 RUM for me or my bow I have not really decided yet but I am taking my daughter with me this year so most likely the boom stick....

Shifting away from the topic of my #### and the stupidity of Ontario, you guys seem to use a LOT of gun for bear. Heck .30-30 was (is) the defacto standard for decades in Northern Ontario.

Anyone hunt bear with 6.5x55 Swede? 8x57 would do it for sure but I'm getting a nice Swede and might consider it for this fall.

Well I was going to be using my Rem 700 .30-06 DM w/2.5-10x40( home rolled 180gr TSX load), however I have recently found out that according to some experts, this set up is only good for short range work on deer. I am currently re-thinking my setup.

Rem 700 30-06 168 TSX. I too am worried over the new info regarding the "underpowered" 30-06, wait a minute my '06 is the 100 yr anniversary model (CDL SF) it was able to take any North American big game 100 years ago so I should be OK.
