Spring Bear hunting what rifle and caliber will you be carrying?

My son will be packing his Rem 700 in 7x57 loaded with 150 Nosler's. I will be backing him up with the Rem 700 in 300 Win loaded with 190 grain Hornady BTSP's :sniper:Or the 8x57 Mod 98 with 220 grain Sierra's.....

I'll use my Sako .308 Win with 200 grain Nosler or my Remington 870 12 ga. with either 12-gauge 3-inch Magnum Brenneke slugs or 3" magnum 000 buck.

Just bought a new Marlin 1895G 45-70, haven't shot a bear for a few years but I am going to shoot one with this gun, got it all sighted with the factory irons yesterday and will be shooting the hdy leverevolutions.

I put an placed an order (deposit) for a 30-06 remington 7600 Carbine at the begining of December ( was told 6 to 8 week delivery)and that is what I was going to use for the spring bear season,The rifle still hasnt come in and they have no idea as to when it is going to be shipped by Remington to them so i guess i have to seriously look at other options.

well.... i just finished buildin up an all usgi parts norc m14s..... and chopped her down to bush gun size..... so..... she will be my black bear/truck gun for this season

Tikka T3 lite in 7mm-08 with Hornady 139gn BTSP and a Browning Tornado Compound Bow. My plan for now, is to use the compound bow until about the last 30 minutes of legal hunting time and then switch to the rifle (or if I can get another licensed shooter to come with me, we'll just keep both at the ready)

I just have no interestet in tracking a bear in the dark. It can happen with the rifle too but pretty much guaranteed with the bow.

My stand is set up for a 20 yd shot, once the snow has cleared I will see if I can change it to 30 yds just to stay hidden better.

well its official now, thanks to TB at omineca sports who busted his azz finding me 1 of the only available TC prohunters around and in 375H&H, just mounted the new leupold 3-9x40 on her yesterday with TB, time to sight her in and see how these 300Gr nosler partitions do....then me and Mr grizz are going to have a unscheduled meeting haha

Barracuda, just find a Rem 76, 760 or 7600 rifle in 30-06 and have the barrel shortened to 18 1/2 inches. There are plenty of good used ones around, and the work can be easily done by any competent 'smith.

I'll be swinging the BBR 340Wby Mag at some bears this spring, we'll see what happens with the 250 grain bullet, or it could be that new Savage 300WSM pushing 168g bullets, or maybe just the old 30-06 or the 257Roberts. Not sure yet, depends on my mood those days.
Maybe it'll just be my camera, who knows, I might not want to work on my days off, just spot and stock is fun enough.
