Difference between original and II in a nutshell?
The new version has a swivelling bipod (original was fixed), different rail on the bottom of the fore-end, and I seem to recall reading that the stock now has an aluminum bedding block or spine molded in. Frankly, none of these things means squat to me; YMMV. The adjustable buttstock and cheekpiece look like they might be nice, but might also be snaggy and awkward.

The full-length pic rail on top...an improvement over the Weaver rail on the original...is the only big step forward. My Scouts always had at least a couple of different sighting options set up for them, using QD rings and mounts that allowed quick interchangeability. That dang Weaver rail had a crapload of slots on it, but somehow never had one right where I wanted one for this scope or that mount. I was always wishing for a pic rail...and now here it is. Depending upon the price difference between old and new versions, this is the only feature that I might pay a few extra bucks for.

Thanks.
Any idea whether the sling swivels for the Scout, presumably the same on original and II, will ever show up in North America again?
I need a couple.

STEYR SLING SWIVEL MILLET (1). SKU#: 2600060022.

Nordic Marksman will have them soon. We also have some in stock that can be ordered through dealers.

Currently in theater in Ukraine.

Probably for the best. I doubt a cartridge producing 3800 ft/lbs of energy is much fun out of something that light.
My brother has a .376 (Pro Hunter I think) that doesn’t seem any heavier than my .308 Scout.
Felt recoil isn’t much different.
