12.6 prohibs are still legal to take to the range. The other 12's technically are, but they have so many extra rules wrapped around them that it is impossible. - danI have a dumb question. Obviously you posses a 12.6 classification on your RPAL. My question is, Can you legally take your 12.6 prohibs to a range.
Under the Old OIC and Now the New OIC my prohibs are to remail locked in my safe.
Honestly, the whole 12 anything idea needs to go. Along with the government's ability to use OIC's. A gun is a gun is a gun. Everything else is posturing. - danThanks Dan. I kind of figured tht may be the case but I', not a 12.6 guy so I would have been guessing at best.
Years of buying and trading. A nickel plated detective special would be pretty cool. - danSome real beauties there for sure > I have a Colt Detective Special also , but mine is chromed , along with some others , but no where near the sweet collection you have there !
Was the hot ticket for silhouette back in the day. Had the Ruger and DW and a Contender barrel in that cartridge. Worked very well with 180 gr bullets. - danThat DW 357 max was one of the grails I did not manage to get before the end. Like that Colt Detective Special too. Very nice collection.
One of the eternal truths is that, regardless of what you think about Colt DA revolvers, their old blueing was absolutely incredible, better than the rest, nicer than most rifles.Starting with the top Pic, top row, left to right. S&W Model 19 Combat Magnum snubbing, with Herrett stocks. Next over is a S&W Model 12 Airweight snubby, wearing Pachmeyers. Next to that is a Colt Detective Special also wearing Pachmeyers. On the right hand side, going down, is a Dan Wesson Model 15 wearing Pachmeyers. Beside that is a S&W Model 27 3.5 inch, known as the FBI Model as it was their standard issue for quite some time. Under that is a S&W Model 38 Bodyguard, wearing Pachmeyers. The two on the left are 357 Maximum, a Dan Wesson Model 40VS8 and a Ruger Super Blackhawk 10 inch, wearing Pachmeyers.
Second Pic, top two are a Colt 4 inch Diamondback wearing Pachmeyers, and a S&W Model 19 Combat Magnum 4 inch wearing factory Combat grips. Under those two are a S&W 38-44 HD wearing factory service stocks, though not period correct ones. And a Colt New Service 4 inch wearing Pachmeyers. Under those is Colt Police Positive 4 inch with factory grips. Under that, left to right, Colt Officers Model Match Target, 7 inch barrel, wearing stag grips. Beside that is another Colt Police Positive with factory wood grips. A Colt Python 2.5 inch wearing Herrett stocks and magnaported. And beside that is a Colt Lawman Mk III anubbie wearing factory service grips.
Third Pic, upper left hand corner, Colt Python 4 inch wearing target stocks, and a S&W Model 13 snubbing wearing factory Combat grips. Below those is a Colt Trooper Mk III with 6 inch barrel wearing Pachmeyers. And a S&W 6.5 inch Outdoorsman. In the middle is a S&W Model 28 with 4 inch barrel wearing factory target grips. Under that is a 4 inch Model 27 with the three "T's". On the right is another S&W 27 with 5 inch barrel with factory presentation grips and a Colt Mk III 4 inch barrel Trooper Border Patrol.
Ran through a walk of ammo, have to fire up the Dillon next week. Good times. - dan
True. The between the wars guns in particular, beautiful finishes. - danOne of the eternal truths is that, regardless of what you think about Colt DA revolvers, their old blueing was absolutely incredible, better than the rest, nicer than most rifles.
Had a 4 inch 357 as well, but foolishly traded it off. - danThe 357max is one I never had.
Back in the day, I had 2 diamond backs, for some reason , I could not shoot those good, but other colts I had no problem.
I had a exc Colt 357 model in 4 in, that was as good or better then the later model Pythons . Just not as pretty.
My most used is a S-W model 19-2 in 4" these days. Wish now I had kept the short one.
great collection you have there Dan.
