I’ve always loaded H110 with magnum primers, but can’t help noticing that my stash of magnum primers is going down faster than my regulars. What powder would you suggest fir full power loads with the regualr large pistol primers?

I use regular LPP in 44 mag and in the last 2 years haven't had any issues with ignition. I shoot light cast loads of Unique and full power loads using CFE pistol without any problems. As with all reloading info on the internet, YMMV

Vihtavouri N110.. good chance once you try it you won't go back. That powder has also been available through the years when none of the others have.

Generally speaking N110 will shoot full house loads at lower pressures and equal or better velocities than 2400 or H110 too. It's a nice powder.

No such thing
Hornady, Nosler and Western Powders reloading manuals specify magnum primers for all powders. Winchester just makes the magnum WLP for everything that takes large pistol. Don’t fk around. If you go against the manuals it will eventually bite you in the ass, or maybe shrapnel in your face.

I've had good luck with 2400 and regular primers

Depending on your load H110 can do just fine with a standard LP primer. Have you tried it? Either way, AA9 is a fantastic powder in general. It's one of a few powders I would choose if I were somehow limited to picking for the rest of my life.

Yeah, I can see that large pistol primer taking him out just for not being a magnum. These are some seriously dicey times we’re living in!

I’ve seen people have poor ignition from inexperienced reloading stick a bullet in the barrel and then they try another one. Boom. The expression of disbelief is quite something. Was trying to avoid that. When I recommended 13.5gr of HS-6 on another forum an inexperienced/over confident member double charged and blew up a M-29 without injury, thank God. I’m very cautious what I recommend. 20.5 of IMR-4227 with 240 is a safer bet. 1350fps with both loads. 4227 is remarkably more accurate.

With "full power" (max charge) loads and a firm roll crimp I would 100%. I would check it out over a chronograph before making a bunch though.

... small rifle primers are not a substitute for large pistol primers, they will fall out of the pocket :)
Never said they were. My post reads "depending on what you're using them in, small rifle primers might also work. I use them in my Ruger #1 in .357."

.357 Magnum brass does not come with large primer pockets. Starline, however, made a run of .44 Magnum brass for HSM that have small primer pockets.
