Does any one know what firearm is standard issue to the OPP for uniform duty?

This is correct and rumor has it that they are going to replace the TRU team Hi-Powers with P226 Elite's in 9mm.

Last I checked the P229 had a 3.90 inch barrel.... by no means a "small short barrel".

As far as long distance shooting, last I checked taking down a moose at 50 yards was not a requirement of an OPP duty gun...

Ya there's a lot of call for picking off bad guys at 50 yards with a pistol so they need that extra half inch on the barrel.

At 50 or so yards you just wing him in the leg with your .38 "snubbie" just like they do on TV. It's on TV so it must be real!
