Those Featherweights are beautiful

Great Pics.
A great rifle and a fantastic cartridge.
100 gr bullets work well in my Ruger with IMR4350.

It's snowing here in southern ON. 6" on my back deck since last night.
Cand wait till I can see grass hear like that in AB.
257 Roberts

Lovely rifle. I had the same rifle, a well-used example. It was a bit twitchy to shoot. I wish I had just kept it. I sold it to a fellow CGN-er who sold it soon after. Love the cartridge too. I'm considering a Hawkeye in the Bob, after I sell a couple other rifles.

model 70 fwt

I have three model 70 FWTs. .22-250, .257 ROBTS, and a .308. I freefloated the barrels back to about 3/4" from the receiver in them and they all shoot excellent.

Hmmm, from what I've heard, the featherweights approve of a slight upward pressure on those pencil thin barrels. I haven't taken mine apart yet, but from what I can see, there ain't much space between barrel and wood. This is one that I won't mess with until I work up some loads. I'm thinking IMR4350 with Barnes 100gr. TSX and BR2 primers (I have a truck load of them). ;)

I know what he is going to tell you, take his advice. It will be a good choice. :)

Hey, sell me that scope :D

That scope and rifle are a match...:) I know you've been beating your head against the wall :bangHead: with that remy of yours. The .257 +P would make a wicked sheep gun, won't it brother Dave?

Hey bud, I still got 50 rounds of .375 Ouch & Ouch gifted to you and one of my famous steaks....let's do it.

Factory load

The 257R is like alot of other older calibers that are improved greatly by handloading. Factory loads are low pressure and don't live up to potential.

Not much can be said against it as long as it is used on the game it was intended for.

.
The new factory Hornady ammo is 257 Roberts is a pretty good round in the 117gr bullet. I loaned my rifle to a gal that shot 2 very nice deer with it this past season. FS
