I just got this new 20 ga Ugartechea on Wednesday. I bought it from Lion Country Supply in PA and had it brought in by Questar. Both places were great to deal with and I would highly recommend them.

The gun is 3" chambered 20 ga with 27" barrels (actually 27 1/4") choked Cyl and Imp/Cyl. I got it for Woodcock / Grouse over pointing dogs primarily. It weighs in at 6lbs 2oz and balance is about 3/4" back of the hinge pin. It has an articulated front trigger and rolled trigger guard, swamped rib and chopper lump barrels, not to mention lots of other features. There is a lot of proof that it is hand fitted but that adds to its charm for me...all in all I am happy with it. I have shot it and it worked flawlessly but I need to practice with it as it is much lighter than I am used to and my skeet score suffered.

The wood finish was BRUTAL from the factory being dark and dull. The pictures are after I applied a bit of BLO and steel wool. It looks more blonde in the shots than it actually is...the only thing lacking is the wood IMO. But, its a hunter anyways and my wirehair will end up stepping on it sooner or later so...

Nice! Pretty much all you need for Upland in Ontario. BTW, how long did it take for the sxs to reach you since the time you initiated the order?

dilly ... that's a nice piece !
Pretty colours.

I trust we'll get an in depth "covert report" along 'bout the end of October ???

Couple of shots of the dogs would be nice too !

Where is it made and what year? We'll have to do a bit of upland and see how it works on the birdies;)

She is brand new Umbie! Came in the factory box from Spain!

In regards to birds...come on over:dancingbanana: You can watch me yell at my dog Kaiser! "WHOA WHOA:mad:...aww, he ate another bird:("

It is regarded as a 75EX according to LCS but it says "upland classic" on the barrels. It is obviously an LCS order because it has their name on the one barrel too.

Thanks. That will be a great gun chasing grouse in the fall.

As for the wood I wouldn't be too concerned. When I was in Eibar 8 years ago most of the makers, including Ugartechea, were bemoaning the difficulty of finding nice walnut and I don't think the situation has improved much. Better to have a solid stock with good grain through the wrist. I've seen far too many fancy stocks that were very poorly laid out.

Nice!

I have a very similar shotgun stamped "Churchill Royale by Kassner" on the barrel and without the sideplates. When Anthony at Tradeex got in a bunch of Spanish doubles, I got into researching Spanish proof marks and found out that it was an Uggy (that cost me $350 plus tax and shipping from Marstar).

The gun balances nicely, usually connecting on the first clay that I fire at, though I've only brought down a rabbit and a crow with her thusfar for lack of opportunity to hunt more......

Enjoy your find.... it should give you many years of happiness before a favourite child or grandchild inherits it!

If memory serves, this was few years ago......was a nice 20ga straight grip boxlock and Marstar had that on their site for a while. Still regret not picking it up back then.....I was trying hard to stay away from shotguns at that point in time :)
